Back by popular demand, it's time to announce details of our second
ZooChat event with Chester Zoo's Curator of Mammals, Tim Rowlands.

Building on April's hugely successful 'walk-and-talk', the day will
include a tour of the zoo with Tim, lunch in the private staff canteen
above the Fountain Shop, a look at the zoo's future mammal collection
roadmap, a preview of the giant otter and African hunting dog
development plans, and a Q&A session in Cedar House.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the zoo's current
and forthcoming mammal plans, and a chance to put your questions
directly to one of Chester's curators. Tim has kindly dedicated his
valuable time to the event, and as anyone who took part in the first
'walk-and-talk' will attest, he is hugely knowledgeable and
enthusiastic.

Itinerary - Saturday, 9th October 2010

10:30 - Meet by the Visitor Services Building inside the zoo
10:30 - Tour of the zoo
13:00 - Lunch above the Fountain Shop
14:00 - Collection, giant otter and African hunting dog developments
14:30 - Q&A with Tim Rowlands
15:30 - Event concludes

To take part you must send me a private message via the forum providing
me with your name and contact details, and places (maximum of 25) are
strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is free-of-charge thanks to the brilliant and generous support
of the zoo, but you will be required to pay for your lunch (optional)
and normal entry into the zoo.

Closing day for people to PM me by is the 4th October so Tim can let the canteen staff have some idea of numbers that will be present.

PM sent! :D

If the lunch is optional, do we have to say in advance whether we are buying lunch there or bringing our own (so the canteen know)? Also, are we welcome to bring our cameras for the zoo tour part?

Thanks in advance :)

Well you have chosen the only date in the next 3 months, in which I CANT make it! Extremely upset about this, but its a great idea, and goodluck to the Event! :(

Cameras are fine, the only part of the tour where you might not be able to take photographs is in Cedar House but if so that will be made clear beforehand.

It would probably help to say whether you'd like the canteen to make you lunch, or whether you're bringing your own.

Ahh cool, it's only the animals that I ever really photograph anyway so it's only the tour that I'm likely to use it on. Me and Angela (AgileGibbon) are going to bring our own lunches, so just to let you know :).

Argh! I have to be in Cambridgeshire on Saturday night! I think even if I only went for the morning it'd be cutting it too fine, and having been to the last talk, I don't want to take up a place that could go to someone that didn't get the chance last time.

Include me in and I'll happily pay for my lunch. I will confirm by PM a little closer to the date.
We should all thank SMR for helping to arrange this event.

I will admit its not all me this time and yes a big thanks the SMR for his help this time in sorting it out.

You both deserve a big thank you for taking the time to arrange this and giving us the chance to learn more about the zoo and the direction it is heading in.

Also, Tim Rowlands deserves a big thank you for taking precious time out of what I can only imagine to be a hectic job to do this :)

I'm sorry, zoogiraffe! Thanks to you too of course.
I'm getting too old to do complicated things on Mondays :o

I would like to thank every one in the world*. Think that covers myself for any future confusion!

More seriously - thanks to everyone involved - looking forward to this!
