Jos (I assume that's who you mean by Josh) died a couple of years ago

Thanks for the information, even though it is sad that Joss/Josh is no longer with us,Good luck to Rosie at her new home at Port Lympne, although sorry I will no longer be able to see her at Chester in the future, however on the bright side I can still visit her former neighbour Thi at the elephant house with her family.

Also forgot to say when I visited(11/09/11)there was two transportation boxes in the indoor Warty Pig area(the one's near the Chimps).

I didn't realise she'd be heading to Chester at the time obviously but I've attached a snap shot that I bagged of Baby Zuri when I was at Paignton on 27th July 2007 - she'd be 3 to 4 months old here?

How can baby Rhinos be so cute! :D

They are the cutest babies ever. Like they are on springs. And life is just exciting for them that they can't focus on one thing for too long. I could watch them forever.

Rosie has a bad history with male companions if you have watched Zoodays it's that kind of behaviour.

Jos and Rosie were compatable at London as they were together before being fullgrown, but there was no breeding.
Rosie has had problems accepting other males since while Jos bred at Port Lympne before he unfortunately died there.

Rosie seems excessively nervous and desocialised as a rhino- probably from being handraised. I'm sure she'll benefit from Port Lympne's big paddocks however and there is still obviously a (slim) chance they may be able to get her to breed.

I would rate it as a very small chance that they can get Rosie to breed- her behaviour won't change much, even if her surroundings do.

Does anybody know when the Arabian Rock Hyraxes are to be onshow?

Never - Chester's are pure South African Cape Rock Hyrax (Procavia capensis capensis). ;)

Ahh,I read some where they were Cape Hyrax, thanks for that Maguari must brush up on my Hyrax knowledge;)When are the South African Cape Rock Hyrax to go on-show then?

No idea. :D

It's just a case of when the exhibit is done I think - someone who's been more recently than me might know if there's been anything going on with it.

Well it looks to be coming on well. A mesh structure now pokes out of the roof - I assume these will be the same kind of rocks as can be found throughout the exhibit. Looks a similar size to the porcupine exhibit.

Have they successfully intoduced the Yellow Mongoose with the Porcupines yet?on my last visit(11/06/11)I only saw the Porcupines.

They are not moving the Yellow Mongoose into the Porcupine enclosure until they have made some alterations to stop the mongoose from getting out!
As for Rock Hyrax they should be on-show sometime around late june early july from what I was told at the AGM,but have been told don't expect to see them much as they are very shy!!Also don't expect see Arabian Rock Hyrax at CWP heard a whisper they may be going off-show or leaving!!!

That's a shame if they do,that's the first time they've bred them so it'll be a shame to take them offshow:(
