Pretty poor/wet with us in the South today. My guess is they would be taking steps to make sure the cub is kept out of any wet weather though , if there was heavy rain.

Other than the fact our weather is very hot these past couple of days, I should also say that she is sheltered under one of the platforms I think, I would assume the cub is well protected from the elements.

As Javan Rhino said we both had a very brief view of the young cub, yesterday at the moment all is going well. Also a few other notes concerning the Tigers the window has been boarded over for about 2 weeks now,and those zoochatters that visited on saturday need to open there eyes more as the cub was already in the enclosure!!!

I find that Kirana and Fabi's bond is very strong and he is a very trust-worthy male so Kirana is/sounds like it is ok that Fabi is around still brilliant news!:D

How do you know this?

We spent ages staring at Kirana trying to convince ourselves she was pregnant a couple of weeks ago but I thought we were kidding ourselves!

Orangeperson and Satan, I have seen Fabi and Kirana a few weeks after they were introduced and the connection there was very strong, I did not say she cannot breed I said it is unlikely she would breed as she is too young but mother Nature suprised me again!

I'm sorry, it's just that you post so much information which turns out to be incorrect. Also, you have too study the animals together for months to determine whether they have a strong bond. Not just one visit after they were recently introduced. Many animals can initially appear to get on very well, only later to show how they actually get on.

I saw them around the same time as you. She was beating seven bells out of him. Do you know why? I watched her grow up from a month after she was born until she was moved to Chester. She is just like her mother, very strong and gets what she wants.

Have you considered that he seemed attentive because of the fact that one is male and one is female?

Hello Satan, May I ask if you are a keeper? Intrested to learn that you saw Kirana from when she was a month old!!!:(

kkkp, sadly i'm not a keeper. Just a long time member of Paignton. I got my dates wrong. I saw her from 3 or 4 months. It's the most recent bunch of terrors i've seen most.

I would have seen Kirana 6 or 7 times before she moved in 2008. Unfortunately we didn't have a camera then, so didn't get any photographs. Although I got my dates wrong, her character is just the same as her mothers. Feisty, no nonsense. Butter wouldn't melt if she wants something.

I don't care as long as it's there when I do the carnivore KFD :)

Come on cheetahs, still time!

Cheetahs - yes yes yes please :p

The cheetah project I volunteered on last year has now got 4 cubs - seriously jealous!!
So I concur - c'mon Matrah pull your finger out (no pun intended!) and make baby cheetahs please!

Well if he's still using his finger. We're going to be waiting a long time.

Fantastic news :) let us hope this cub is the first of many!
