Visited today and managed to get a view of the four cubs where their mum Kinky Tail who now seems to be going under the name KT or as one regional news reporter called her "Katie". Regardless all four cubs and mum seem to be doing extremely well and cant quite honestly say have ever saw so many people in the Yurt since it has been constructed. Felt a bit like a media circus in their at times today with four gentleman camped out right infront of the viewing window with zoom lenses taking hundreds of photographs at a time. Surrouded by several others snapping away with their digital cameras.
One think that I did enjoy seeing that wasnt cheetah related was the look of joy and excitment on lots of the childrens faces at seeing the cubs. Which one would hope will translate into a passion or at the very least an enjoyment of animals, nature and conservation in general.
Fingers crossed everything goes to plan and we get the opportunity to watch the cubs grow over the next few years.

Have posted a few of the shots from today on my flickr site at Cheetah Cubs - a set on Flickr if anybody would like to take a look.

Lovely set of pictures <smiles>... i am going to Chesterzoo in about 2 weeks time... very excited about seeing them and attempting to get a picture of the bushdog babies as well.

Saw the cubs today, but the new star of Chester Zoo is the male serval. I lost count of how many people mistook him for a baby cheetah. I wonder if he is enjoying his new fame.

There is only one serval. I don't know which one he is. The point I wanted to make was that some visitors thought he was a baby cheetah.

We also noticed that the Serval was getting a lot of attention last Sunday and suspected a few people though he was a cheetah cub... We were under the impression that Lanky went to Trotters World of Animals (whoever went, he's now renamed Jabari).

ah right! ta muchly

and Jabari? so he's a new Serval to chester then?

We need a Serval thread now I think! Jabari is the new name for the Serval who lived in Chester Zoo but has been relocated to Trotters World of Animals in the Lake District.

No new Servals at Chester to my knowledge. My knowledge being limited to looking in the Serval enclosure and spotting one serval!

Some of us are so old that we can remember that the current serval enclosure used to hold the cheetahs.

Anyone have any idea as to whether the vague plan I recall hearing somewhere of moving a new female in for the remaining serval is still in the pipeline at all?
