I remember wtaching one episode where Marmite went to another collection to live with some Common Marmosets. It was said that he was too tame (being hand reared) to stay in the enclosure Longleat had.

Yes, he went to Monkey World, but they no longer list him on their website (and just to note they no longer list the male Goeldi's Marmoset either) so I can't really comment if he's still there or not. The Common Marmosets are still there however.

The new video on their website show's different marmosets as mum and dad,Where are Mike,Michelle and possibly Mandu?

Visited yesterday and was surprised to learn that Monkey Temple houses common and geoffroy's marmosets, black tamarins, goeldi's monkeys and emperor tamarins (if i remember correctly). The original marmosets are still in their old (but renovated) area in Jungle Kingdom.

Other news -
No sign of any cheetah, however the cd tour now talks about them and both house and enclosure are pretty much finished. Wildebeest are still within the Monkey Jungle. Flamingos are on eggs once again.

Spoke to a keeper in Jungle Kingdom and she said that they have no red pandas as they were not able to source any which is why they now have the binturong, but are hoping to find some within the next year. I am assuming that once out of quarantine the binturong will be sharing the otter enclosure.

Didn't manage to catch the hunters of the sky show. The new deer valley is really a paddock with a section for visitors and a section for deer. Was impressed with the lorikeet aviary, and monkey temple, the whole area is far superior to the old pets corner - pictures on the way.

Having seen the photos of parts of 'Jungle Kingdom', I am surprised at the apparent total absence of vegetation in the majority of the enclosures. Does anyone know the reason for this? I would be surprised if this had been decided at keeper level, given the quality of previous exhibits in the old pets corner.

I was over at Longleat on monday of last week.

We wisely did the boat trip first then after doing various other things we did the safari park.

I loved the boat trip Nico was laying down near the indoor quarters. We saw the 2 hippos poking their heads out of the water. Also with sealions splashing around near the boat.

I also enjoyed the safair park a lot which included monkeys jumping up on our and everyone's car. Their was hardly any cars in their when we did the drive round the safari park at 4 pm.

All in all a great day out the last time I went their Longleat had a dr who exhibtion.

Nico is currently the oldest male Gorilla in Europe. He could already be fifty years old as he came into captivity in 1962 and was presumably born in 1961 (or before).

When I did the 'jungle cruise' on Thursday the commentary given by the keeper did state that Nico is now 50.
