Chester Zoo Cheetah Cubs

it's always going to be a problem - I was making a point of getting the kids in particular to the window yesterday as the tripod brigade were slightly hogging the windows, I really don't like seeing people not able to get a glimpse of possible the cutest of cute from cuteland :O)
One of the presenter team was also present for a while and we had a wee discussion about the issue of window hoggage - but I think with a lot of people the 'I've paid my money and was lucky enough to be here first" mentality rears it's ugly head.
I still managed to get the images I wanted and to spend some time watching the family interact without any hoggage so it can be done. I will admit to several "ahs" as well especially when little 'livingstone' misjudged the pounce on his/her littermate and plummetted down the small embankment in from of the window - oo it was amusing!

A note for photographers; if you have a longish lens and are reasonably tall, you can get decent shots by shooting through the fence looking over the wall beside the 'yurt'. This avoids the problems of dirty glass and hogging window space, but the direction of the light may be difficult (particularly later in the day) and your lens must be long enough to 'see' through the fence.

More to do with me being short on time, but I only saw them as I passed up the ramp and over to the west zoo last time I was there (went that way around to show my mum and AG the cubs). Think I saw/photographed them enough the time before :p

I was told she was mated the same time as KT!!!So by now its possible it wasn't a successful mating!

Yes was told she'd been mated several times but nothing so far, presumably off show due to KT and cubs occupying the enclosure next to the yurt. Sorry should've explained properly but it was a quick update.

I went to the zoo today and seen them.. i went as soon as the zoo opened cause i am one of the "big lens" crew... and i didnt wanna bother people..Their keeper was there at the time... she said the cubs have started to lick the meat so will prolly be starting to be weaned soon.

I think consideration needs to be given to everyone... Today at the painted dogs there was a full huge window to take a picture.. and normally because i am a big lens crew i go to the side to attempt not to interfere with people...and this woman instead of going beside me... waited behind me.. and was tutting which just made me stand longer <yip i can be a brat>..where as i spent next to an hr with the cheetah cubs while no one else was there this morning so when it started to get busy i moved away and let a mum and young boy in where i was. I think with animals that attract attention its important to have consideration.. from all sides. Part of me is dreading the pandas coming to Edinburgh Zoo for that reason alone.

Here are some of the pictures of the cubs...got some amazing pictures of the bush dogs swimming.. do they do that often? i was just amazed at how good they swam!

Lovely photos lesley4444.i went today but i was disappointed not to see them.It was very packed, queueing up to the traffic lights up the road and also the opposite end as well.the dinasoars were very popular.

Awww thank you... i think i was just lucky getting there early...lets hope my luck keeps up because its Twycross Zoo tomorrow and i shall be camped out at the snow leopard enclosure till i see them!!!

Your photos are amazing Lesley. I visited last Friday and I totally agree with your thoughts ! Yes - I have concerns with Edinburgh and the pandas but then I have been really privileged to visit and photograph the pandas in Vienna ( the best enclosure in Europe) and Berlin. Good luck with the snow leopards !

That's a great clip, there were definitely people there who had been attracted by seeing it on TV.

Really interesting to learn yesterday how KT chose which of the boys to breed with rather than people deciding for her!
