Whilst stood at the marbled polecat enclosure, we made another sighting of an elusive species - a GentleLemur! Was good finally meeting a fellow ZooChatter. Needless to say, his photos of the polecats and aardwolves will put those I took today to shame, lol.
Where the Tigers seperate?
So were we. I still hadn't seen one (anywhere, including Auckland) until late in the day, when a hugely helpful member of Edinburgh's staff along with Simon - who it was a pleasure to meet - pointed out the location of the one in the enclosure behind the bears. It wasn't until I photographed the area and looked on the back of my camera that I could actually spot the cat!...we were regularly checking the enclosures of the golden cats...

One minor point I forgot to mention before - the Night Heron escapees from the 1980s are still extant in the area around the zoo. How long *do* Night Heron live?
but most of the older ones would be dead now but they would more than likly of brought to the zoo chicks to show them where to find foode
I saw the female in the main enclosure, but I didn't see the male at all - so I'm afraid I can't help.

Does anyone know if the planned female Jaguar is coming? I notice Chester are having a switch around in their Jaguar exhibit.

It would seem that there has been a new Malayan Tapir birth at Edinburgh - someone has uploaded a photograph on Facebook. I would assume it is less than three or four weeks old, as there was no sign of this having happened at the time.
