I did keeper for the day and when we went to lock up at the tigers Kirana came and sat at the fence, paws stretched in front like a big soft kitty to 'talk' to the keeper.

Fabi licking and crunching bones was impresive

In other news the Aardvark den construction is underway (there's a blue cover over the viewing window now) and half the main entrance is shut off including fasttrack for more building work...

Some sad news reported by the zoo today.

"It is with sadness that we have to tell you of the death of our jaguar, Salvador.

The 20-year-old has been with us since 2001, having moved here from Poland, but had recently encountered problems associated with old age.

Salvador was an amazing ambassador for his species and a much valued member of the collection. Our thoughts very much go with the teams who have worked with him over the years."
