Paradise Park in Hayle, Cornwall, is thrilled with the the arrival of five new Kea chicks.

Two of the chicks are being hand-reared by keepers while other three are being reared by the parents. The two oldest are already confirmed as being females, which is excellent news for the captive population. Paradise Park plans to keep one of the females to join their single male and the others will join other collections around Europe, to promote genetic diversity.

Slightly off topic, but are paradise park and paradise wildlife park different places?

Paradise Park in Hayle specialize in Birds with a few small Mammals (For example they hold Red Panda and Otters).

Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne, specialize more in Large Mammals and some Birds as well as Reptiles- things you'd expect in a normal Zoo. (Lions, Tigers, not bears;)).
