You need to travel to Australia. Most zoos that keep them whether city zoos or open range cannot stop them breeding, and also in large packs.

Another choice is De Wildt sanctuary in South Africa - loads of brown hyaena and cheetah also.

Yes they were both together in the out door enclosure.
 
White Lion Cubs Born

It says on the WMSP website that 2 more white lions have been born (both male) to resident white lioness 'Natasha'.

It says that a total of 11 cubs have been born there in last couple of years, and with these two additions there must be 17 white lions in residence, as i presume none have been rehomed. I wonder if the other 2 lionesses are pregnant?

I know they have brought the visitors into the park, but does a facility REALLY need 17 white lions???!!!
 
i suppose if they are happy they are gonna breed most summers. Maybe they will start to distribute them around UK zoos
 
Maybe they'll train them to all pull a sleigh at christmas....to raise money for lion conservation in Africa ; )
 
The African leopard is in an enclosure in the African reserve, which she alternates use with 3 painted dogs.
Would they really want to take the heat off themselves by sending the white lions to other UK zoos? I think they'd be more likely to send them abroad, or keep them and build a much bigger reserve.

Is that the one in the centre?

If so, I remember seeing the leopard in there before the exhibit in the 'zoo' section was built.
 
Yeah that's the one. I bloody hate that exhibit (the glass box) in the Discovery cove, I think it's appalling.

Yeah me too.

I think it was alright when it used to hold hand-reared white tiger cubs and hunting dog pups, because they seemed to enjoy the close human contact, but for shy species such as leopards, they could've done much better.

That explains why i didn`t see the SUPPOSED African Leopard at the private collection it came from when i was their earlier this year,its still at West Mids then.
 
The white lion cubs will probably be shipped out to that reserve in Africa, but if they breed their own,and the parents came from there in the first place, wpuld the reserve really want the cubs, as potential partners for them would be a bit thin on the ground? Once you have seen a a male and female whitye lion, you've seen them all, breeding the continuosly is pointless, they have pulled the crowds in now, and i don't think WMSP can keep it up every year by breeding these lions just for crowd attraction.
 
The use of that enclosure seems a bit cruel to keep hunting dogs and a leopard. They are surrounded by zebra, gnu and Eland, animals they would usually prey on in the wild. I'm sure they will at some point stop breeding the lions except for the occasional litter. Thats what they have done with the tawny coloured ones.

The same could be said for the lions though, because their reserve is right next to the African one and there is a direct view of these animals below the large metal sheets...

The cubs would bring in crowds, it's the same for any baby animal. But it is a bit pointless...
