I went today,I only saw one African Rhino out But i only saw it from a distance but i am not sure which one. Also only one Casawery out as well.No sign of the Anteaters nor the Servil.

It was very crowded in the Dinasoar Exhibit.Had a good day and lots of people about enjoying themselves.

Visited for the first time in nearly a year last week, and I have to say, it really does strike you when you haven't visited in so long how much Chester can change. Overall I was impressed though, the changes to the entrance were perhaps initially confusing but definitely more efficient. A lot of nice new species too, this was my first visit since the hyrax, aardvark, howler monkeys and sloth arrived, plus the anteaters going properly on-show, and I really think this is the strongest I've seen the zoo's mammal collection be in quite a while. A shame to see the kangaroos and ruffed lemurs go of course, and I believe the lechwe and rhea too, unless I'm missing something here? Certainly all signage for them was gone anyway.

Liked the modifications to Spirit of the Jaguar, I've always felt that a lack of decent support species was primarily what it was lacking as an exhibit. The hyacinth macaw aviary looks a lot better now too. Not so keen on the departure of the birds of paradise, one of my favourite species, and truth be told the bird corridor of Islands in Danger just looks redundant now. The top row of aviaries in the Tropical Realm is suffering from a lot of repetition in species too, bleeding-heart doves in particular. It was nice to see the addition of sunbittern though, and the Tsavo aviary looks very nice now, the guineafowl are a nice addition. The whistling duck flock next door looks rather impressive too.

It was also nice to see the pudu in an enclosure where you can get a decent view of them, and to see the kingfishers and boelens python on-show.

The zoo's facebook page has stated some NEW species have arrived today but has not revealed what. Anyone on here know what they are?

Don't remember seeing any posts that a new species was due. Is there actually any empty enclosures at the moment as I didn't expect any proper species to arrive till islands was near completion? I expect it to be a small creature that will inhabit in one of the tanks in SotJ or Islands in danger.

Let's just say the species that has arrived is a very nice species and suits Chester well.

Where did you see the Rhino? Which enclosure to be accurate - the rhinos which were in Tsavo have moved so it may not have been the one you saw.

Jordan you seem to know about one of the species, what about the other/s? Also can you please tell us what it is you know has arrived.

I wish I could reveal it however, I have been trusted with the news - Chester will reveal all next week.

These could be any number of species that are due to arrive and if I'm right about what they are,I will not be rushing to see them as it will be many years before they can on-show if at all.

So Chester may have acquired/ be about to acquire a new species, which may (or may not) be Aye-Aye, which may (or may not) be put on public display at some stage.

Glad we have got that cleared up!

:)

Surely if this new arrival was to be kept off show then the zoo would hardly be announcing it on their Facebook page...
