Worst enclosure photo on Zoochat

Browsing the galleries on Zoochat, I have been appalled by some of the enclosures, even in developed countries.

With the thousands upon thousands of pics in the galleries, there is no way that I am able to look at each pic. Which are some of the worst enclosures that you have come across?

One of the worst I saw in the galleries was a kea enclosure that looked like a reptile enclosure. (Unfortunately, I can't find the pic now.)

These two from Giza Zoo are definitely horrible.

I was just going to post the link but I spent too long re-reading the thread attached to it :p

I know there's always a lot of ragging on zoos in Asia on the forum, but America really does have some shocking exhibits in its "world-class" zoos, like the cat house at Cincinnati just as an obvious example (e.g. http://www.zoochat.com/556/cat-house-exhibits-109264/), and the small mammal house at Philadelphia (http://www.zoochat.com/837/small-mammal-house-177370/). Quite often these zoos spend multi-millions on flash new superficial exhibits for the mega-stars (say, elephants and tigers) while other animals languish in appalling conditions.
 
Oh man, those are some really bad ones.

PS* DavidBrown, yeah, that was the kea exhibit I was trying to find. Damn, that one takes the cake.

Other than my Giza Zoo pics, it's interesting to note that the 6 pics posted are in American zoos. I wrongly believed that really poor exhibits were not found in America. Is it excusable for first-world zoos to have these kinds of exhibits? I would hope not.
 
Isn't it funny how European zoo exhibits are bashed on a consistent basis (take for instance Howlettes gorilla cages) when in fact the problem lies within their own backyard. You have to find it disturbing that exhibits in Europe (and around the world for that matter) that don't have the correct species of trees or the right arrangement of logs are heavily frowned upon, even if they have enrichment such as tyres or barrels (which is always heavily bashed), yet some American zoos dont even have outdoor exhibits for great apes, small mammals or big cats living in appalling cages with no enrichment whatsoever. It just baffles me.

This elephant enclosure in Pistoia, Italy, is pretty terrible..

 
I think that I will be using the word 'yorik' as a noun from now on.

e.g. When I grow up, I want to be a yorik. :D
 
On a side note, if enclosures for public viewing at some zoos are this bad, what about the enclosures for animals off-display? Or dare I even ask?

What about using it as a verb?
"Don´t you dare to yorik me!" or "He wanted to argue so I yoriked him off!""

I recall explaining something very straight forwards to him once and got a right Yoriking for my efforts.

(no attack) I was just pointing out that your original quote spoke in present tense when talking about the Cat House, but no big deal.
