Wildlife Heritage Foundation News from WHF

After all the recent debating about the White Lions, some other news has just appeared. Xizi and Hogar the Amur Leopards were introduced last week and WHF have seen them mating, hopes are high for Amur Leopard cubs.:)

Just to confirm what Nisha as said this is from the WHF facebook page

WHF today welcomed 2 new residents to our site in Kent. Sophia (pictured here in her transit crate) and Joy are two WHITE LIONESSES who today arrived from South Africa.

They will live with Themba, our male white lion, and will be in quarantine for the next few months, after which time they will be able to be viewed by guests on one of our exclusive experiences.

We would like to thank all of our supporters who made donations to our White Lion Appeal and made this arrival possible.

0:0:2 Amur Leopard cubs born on 22nd May... (Xizi X Hogar) Mother and cubs doing well so far. Second successful litter for WHF and Xizi but the first from new male, Hogar who arrived in 2011

Very good news. Xizi's cubs are only the second ones to be born at WHF and to Xizi. Xizi's first litter of 2.0 was Argun and Anuy, I know WHF still has Argun but with the new cubs wouldn't they need to move him?:confused: He is four years old now. I know Hogar's parents, Atas and Edward have three cubs between them already including Hogar. Hogar's littermate, Elixa is Mulhouse' female and she's already had three litters;

First litter; 3.0
Second litter; 1.0
Third litter; 0.0.1 (0.1?)

Her third litter is being hand-reared at present and is I think a female not 100% sure. Atas had cubs with another male too, Daniel before he died in 2003;

First litter; 1.1
Second litter; 0.1
Third litter; 0.1

The 1.1 litter born to Atas and Daniel consisted of the male cub, Akin going to Marwell. The female cub was sent to Helsinki (?). So Hogar and Xizi's new cubs have plenty of descendants, it maybe more difficult to find them possible mates. However, I'm sure the Co-ordinator will figure something out.

Also, I've heard 0.0.2 Serval kittens were born three days ago. This is WHF's first Serval kittens, it's also Samia (Ex Parc Des Felines) and Malawi's first litter.

0:0:4 Amur Tiger cubs born at WHF on 27th June. A first breeding for WHF

Some of the latest arrivals have now been sexed...

Amur Leopard cubs - 1:1 :cool:

Amur Tiger cubs - All girls! 0:3 :cool:

A pair of Servals have also been born - thought to be 1:1 as well

1.0 Jungle Cat arrived from Olmense, Belgium

0.1 Fishing Cat departed for Drayton Manor earlier this week (The Jungle Cat will eventually have her former enclosure)

1.0 Jungle Cat arrived from Olmense, Belgium

On the one hand, it is nice to have this species back in the UK; on the other hand it's a shame it has arrived at a collection which for all intents and purposes is a private one.

A male Snow Leopard has arrived from a collection in Russia, taking WHF back to 1.1 again

white Lions

Continuing the White Lion breeding debate.......
PWP & WHF have both been severely reprimanded over the breeding of White Lions. IoW and WMWP have been warned not to breed by BIAZA and they have asked for 'further proof' that no further breeding will take place.

I can see a 'fight' coming on as WHF have built a whole new drive through enclosure for the white lions.

Even though they're closed to the public? That would seem quite an investment unless they're planning opening to the public?

Amur Leopard, Argun (the last of WHF's 2008 litter) has now been moved to Rutland

ah - didn't expect rutland - do you know which collection?

I would assume the Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre, which holds several cats offshow(other than selected viewing days). Most of these are animals that are of no use for breeding it seems. Colchester sent an Amur Leopard there a few years ago & i read somewhere else did recently.
