Tigervalley I counted bout 15 cownose rays in the sand tiger shark.
The Suriname toad exhibit had a black board over the exhibit it was closed idk if there getting another species or if its just temporarly there.
Like team Tapir said the old sea dragon tank now has 10th puffed fish in it.
The zoos one Diana monkey got moved to another zoo bout 3 weeks ago. Never saw that species of monkey wish I did
The zoo still has cottontop tamarins but there off exhibit.
Ring tailed penitent are in the first exhibit in the monkey house now replacing black and white rugged penitent.
The zoo plans to get female dams gazelles for its only male and start to fade out the springbok.
The zoo has 2 female komodo dragons that have been in quarantine for 3 weeks now and came from the Czech republic. The LA zoo received 10 of these monoxide from the Czech republic and distributed them through out the U.S.
Tigervalley by the looks at it with the addition of the new animal hospital there won't be any additional viewing for the gorillas.
Thanks for the update jusko88.
It is nice to here about the two new Czech ladies moving into Asian Forest eventually. I wondered when there was not officially announcement via Facebook or the zoo's website about the crocodiles going on exhibit that perhaps there was someone else coming instead.
Is the path the the hospital open yet? If not, the zoo could add another overlook or two by the time the public section opens in 2013 because this path would have to open to the public.
Sorry to here about the Diana monkey because I have not seen them yet. Are the blue monkeys living with the mandrills yet? I know they were alternating, but I was wondering if they are living together yet because that is the plan. Also, did you mean lemur, not penitent?
Are the puffer fish all of the same species?
Where is the Suriname toad exhibit at the zoo?
I was wondering how many cownose rays they got because the end of the video I saw around a dozen of them on screen. I asked the zoo on Facebook to try to find out an exact count.
I am not surprised that the springboks are going to be faded out because they were one of the species mentioned for ICC along with the African elephants and their plans to have the African painted dogs there. They are also adding Andean condors there as part of the National Aviary's new program they want to start to reintroduce members of the species to the wild. It will be nice to have more dama gazelles back at the zoo.
Did you notice if Moja still looks possibly pregnant (but not confirmed)? There is a Baby Day planned for late July. The zoo has a baby sea otter and a baby sea lion with another on the way any day now. With the sad death of Moja's baby and the fact that Azizi is not due until fall, perhaps if she is going to have one, it will be by then.
How were the gorilla troop? They have had a rough week or two. I never got to see the little one. I have not been able to get down there this year yet. I felt like I knew him through all of the photos. It will be sad when I see Moka, Mrithi, and the other troop members for the first time.
