If you re-read the thread thoroughly you would notice a posting the gorilla move(s) have been deferred at least till end July ...
Now what I'd like to know is why Longleat went to the trouble of putting in an application for this (and getting it granted) only to relocate the elephants to France less than six months later?
A. Oumbie is staying at Twycross and not moving to Longleat as originally posted.
Went to Longleat yesterday and the keeper on the boat said they now have two new gorillas but sorry i can not remember there names. They have not been let out yet but are settling in very well
I think that was probably just wrong information and it was never planned for him to go.
It's probably 'Alf' from Dublin who's arrived. If it was Kesho then I'm sure somebody would have noticed he'd gone.
Even if no Zoochatters or if ZSL haven't issued a press release, I'm sure somebody will have said something on Facebook.I'd suggest the opposite: The infomation was that it would be both "Alf" and "Sekondi" that would travel from Dublin. Makes far more sense to bring them over together than one at a time...
If Kesho has only transfered during the past week then it's very possible that his move hasn't been picked up simply because no zoochat members have been to London this week and ZSL haven't issued a press release yet!
Kesho's move is confirmed on the ZSL thread. IMO they have definately made the right decision in moving him though I'm not so sure about his replacement. (we will see) I think Kesho and Boulas have now seen the last females they are ever likely to
and that they will both stay at Longleat probably for the rest of their lives.
It is to be applauded that Longleat is prepared to take on that role for the foreseeable future (and thankfully in a larger exhibit than previous group has been kept in).
Have they improved the behavioral enrichment stuff yet?
From the London thread, confirmation that all four Gorillas (Boulas, Kesho, Alf, Evindi) are now at Longleat. I thought they must be as the new 'Gorilla Colony' has featured on their T.V. adverts so must be up and running for the Boat tours already.
In the very short time they've had them I presume maybe they have not had all four together yet. But in the meantime they will probably get away with just two, or singles, being outdoors at anytime on show.
From some photos I have seen Kesho, Alf and Evindi all outdoors. I presume that Boulas and Kesho won't be mixed, or could they?![]()
