Someone who knows about pc training should be able to get Mila ready for the transport in a very short time, without needing extra time to solve the "she has been spoilt" problem.

Well why hasnt it happened then??????????

Thank you Chlidonias for pointing out that Helen would be alive if she had sticked to protected contact. Protected contact, by the way, works for all elephants - regardless if they are from a zoo or a circus background. Someone who knows about pc training should be able to get Mila ready for the transport in a very short time, without needing extra time to solve the "she has been spoilt" problem. That this is supposed to be a "problem" says everything about the mindset of her former trainers.

You don't seem to understand what is being said here.

Tony Ratcliffe has offered to condition Jumbo by PC. He is not going to solve the "she has been spoilt" problem, he is going to work with it which is why it will take a bit longer to condition her than it would have if he was working FC with her.

It will still take him a lot, lot less time than it will take someone who is a stranger to her.

As money seems to be Jenny Chung's focus, hiring Tony Ratcliffe will get the job done more cheaply for her.

Tony and I are very good mates and we talk to each other at least once a week , I do not need to make statements that are not true , I believe what Tony says about the person managing jumbo , will be a lady , the other side of the coin they will not use Tony , because it is going to be a big propoganda move from Schofield saving a circus elephant in poor condition , to realising Helens dream , that was never going to happen , even in protected handling keepers can get hurt , nothing is impossible with the unforseen .

I didn't realise that myself actually. I don't think that Tony would be doing it PC rather than FC has been mentioned in the thread before (or I missed it).

Is it true that some one offered to buy the zoo and was turned down ? or is that just a story that has been floated around to confuse the issue ? I know the zoo was offered for sale to ROBIN RATCLIFFE , and he has the money to buy it , but he was not interested , one of his reasons was they let jumbo go to Webers because of TONY wanting to retire and thinking Harry Weber was going to take care of her retirement with a handler to be trained by TONY , what I find hard to understand why Helen did not ask Tony to teach her the commands and slowly introduce her to jumbo , like he did with Susan Wilson . Very sad , but some people are just too stupid and live in a dream world , now Jumbo has to leave New Zealand or face a death penalty , courtesy of Helen

some times the truth hurts , and i for one have not many feelings for people that lie about jumbo being in poor condition and then attacking the circus for its care , because i was part of that circus , and i own jumbos old elephant trailor , she would be better off touring with TONY , than putting up with a bunch of wallys at Franklin zoo , I hope they get on and get the job of taking jumbo to a sanctuary and dont hold her in a house and paddock without her bonded mate or another elephant in sight ,

I don't think you have to worry about the death penalty for the Elephant Frank.

that's just hype by Chung to encourage people to donate money to the "Jenny Chung Comfortable Living Fund"

She will hang on until she has a million or so in her bank account, then she will dump the elephant on the people who are offering free transport and handling while she gets on with asset stripping whats left in the zoo and selling the land.

It's all about the $$$$$ as far as she is concerned, she was certainly never part of the zoo when it was going.

when Tony last Toured New Caledonia all the animals including jumbo were Tested by Dr Brian Gartrell , he also micro chipped every animal including the Dogs , this cost was Tonys expense , he told me it cost $5,000 for everything including jumbos urine and blood tests , Dr Brian Gartrell , is in our opinion one of the best and surely he could get the testing done again , maybe with Tonys help ? jENNY already has a sponsor for the freight and possible crate , handling would be at market rate , which shouldnt be a lot of $ , so why is Jenny still screwing the peolple of NZ for money , has she got no conscience at all , this has been going on far too long , even while Helen was alive , it is criminal to take money with little or no regard for some sort of thought about realistic costs , the money if for jumbo not CHUNG or her side kicks , who ever they may be .

For the record, Jenny Chung has been with the zoo for almost as long as Helen owned it. She moved over from Australia maybe four years ago.

There seemed to be an implication by Kiwipo that Jenny Chung has only become involved since Helen's death but she has worked with Helen for a number of years ... that's my point. Apologies if I misunderstood the implication.

I was keen to know what involvement she had with the Zoo [if its any of my business]

I was hoping it would point to the resolution of the Jumbo re home saga, I
didnt mean to sound offensive.

My understanding is Jenny Chung worked alongside Helen and the keepers in any capacity required. She is a hard worker, has been left in an unenviable position with Helen's death, and is being judged pretty harshly in this forum. I believe she has invested heart and soul into FZ since Helen bought it. Their mother also.

Thats nice to know.

It would be nice if some dialogue was opened between Jenny and Tony Ratcliffe , for the sake of the elephants future.

I think everyone realises that Tony Ratcliffe can play a big part in resolving the difficult situation that Jenny is now in.

Maybe you can influence some sort of mediation between them?
Thanks

If you read some of the earlier threads it appears Tony has been to FZ already.

The problem is, there are very few elephant managers/handlers as far as I'm aware who go along with Tony's methods of handling Mila - before she went to Loritz let alone her move to FZ.

It's unlikely there will be any support for Tony's involvement except amongst Tony's friends. If there was, I would think all those who are involved with Mila's care now would be actively working toward that resolution, but they're not. It's not just Jenny.

Meantime, Mila is in good hands and by all accounts is happy and settled. She has an outstanding enclosure, and in the absence of other elephants, has a team of humans who have become her 'herd'.

Regardless of what anyone says, it is going to cost money to get Mila to a sanctuary overseas. To my knowledge, sending an elephant out of NZ has never happened before.
Correct me if I'm wrong? Apart from Mila's circus travels, and I'd be interested to know how many years ago that was if anyone can tell me?

I know she was staying in the house on the Zoo, but if she worked as hard as Helen and the keepers she must have been on days off every time I was there.
If she is so keen on doing the best for the elephant how come she steadfastly refuses to give an exact breakdown of the costs involved, and despite offers being made of free transportation, a travel crate and assistance from genuine elephant experts, the amount of money she wants has never come down. In fact it has gone up from 1.5 million to as much as 1.7 million, and still she seems to be asking for more donations and organising money raising programs,

If she has the best interest of the elephant at heart over her own personal gain then she is showing it the wrong way.

When she actually gets the moving operation underway, lists the costs involved and the donations and offers of help accepted and gives a date for the move I will believe she has the best interests of the elephant at heart.

Until than I will stick with the opinion that she seems more keen on making money out of the elephant.

yess I know how they lied about my mate , who loved that elephant more than anything in the world , TONY was told by the Police to come as fast as he could to the ZOO
