Okay, got it now. So they did have several from Southport but now only have 1.1. Still leaves a bit of a mystery about what happened to the others when Southport closed.

Actually, the 0.4 remaining Southport animals at Heythrop went to the Czech Republic (Zoo Chleby, off the top of my head). Neither Millie nor Jackson came from Southport, they were both at Heythrop before the Southport animals arrived.

no, Jackson did not come from Southport, I believe he was a solitary animal at heythrop that would not intergrate into the 1.2 group that they originally had.

I thought it was a 1.3 group that went from Southport to Heythrop? The youngest of that group was called Millie, born 2000)

I believe there was already a Millie at Heythrop already, which may be what is causing the confusion.

Sorry, I wasn't calling into question your story. I am sure that Jim did tell you that. Neither am I saying he deliberately tried to mislead you, but the truth is that the remaining Southport females went to the Czech Republic, not Budapest. The adult male from Southport died at Heythrop a couple of years ago.

The two Sykes monkeys died around 1992 possibly early 1993, they were housed in the old monkey house ( Terrible old building ), We built the new monkey house between 1992 & 1993 and then moved the Spider monkeys over and Squirrel monkeys and brought in Colobus and Ruffed Lemurs, The sykes had died by that time so it's around 92 or 93.

The Spider monkey without a tail was called Missy, She was wild caught in 1958, She suffered a stroke many years ago and had her tail amputated due to it being paralyzed.

I couldn't tell you why they were not placed with another zoo, possibly because A) either no one wanted them, or B) Cefn yr erw had already said they would take all the primates.

I don't remember a mandrill from southport ever going to Cefn yr erw, but as I said it was nearly 4 years ago, so I might be wrong it was a bad time within the zoo saying goodbye to everything that you had looked after for many years

The two female Sykes Monkeys were still alive in March 1994, I was there and so were they back then. Admittedly one was not at all well and they were both getting on in years. They were both living in that original small cage.
