Tavi, a dwarf mongoose, gave birth to 3 pups on September 13th. Brookfield Zoo is one of only 12 North American zoos to exhibit dwarf mongoose.
I visited the zoo today, and I have a few updates.
- A 8-9 month old female joey Wombat is about ready to leave the pouch.
- The African Wild Dogs very recently had 7 pups. It's her second litter, the first litter was 10 pups.
-Habitat Africa...The Forest! is closed until late November for renovations. I also seen a Forest Buffalo in one of the yards off the back of the building.
-Tropic World Africa and Asia have undergone small renovations. There's new rock work, and a lot more climbing ropes and vines for the monkeys. I'll try to post pictures of the renovations soon. These renovations were for the Colobus Monkeys, Guenon, Mandrills...and Gibbons.
And the masterplan being?

Finally a contender to beat a pygmy hippo baby for cutest baby in the world![]()
Does anyone on here know when the young wombats due to come up to Toronto will be leaving for their new home? I'd love it if we could make a big deal about their arrival before our panda's arrive and no one will care that we have just recieved two more of the rare critters, bringing our total to 3. Hope we dont have to wait until Hamlet, our current male whose more than 30 years old, dies.
