How much the recession is to blame for Manor House's fortunes is questionable, I think it might have more to do with little things like the eye-watering £250 it costs to become an annual member.
MHWP Website said:Annual memberships are £250, and the benefits include:
•An annual pass for you and a friend
•Regular newsletter
•Out of hours park guide with Anna Ryder Richardson
•Invitation to the Annual Members Evening, with drinks, discussions and supper (additional charge applies)
•Pre-release information on developments
EDIT: Blimey, it's true... you'd have to really want to meet Anna R-R...
Whu...?? For a zoo with two dozen non-domestic species?
That's madness. A membership at Bristol and a few train tickets/tanks of petrol would give much better value!

It includes two tickets, so it's £125 per person, but that's not really any better as you can't just buy one (and it's still double Chester's rates at that!).
Just checked their web-site , a basic Season Ticket valid until the end of 2012 costs £19.90 . Wonder how many people will be willing to pay all that extra for a few membership priveliges .
"The couple, who married in 2005, have daughters Bibi-Belle, ten, and Dixie-Dot, nine."
That in itself should be some sort of crime.
