Plans For 2013?

UK forumsters will be happy to know I have fit Highland Wildlife Park and Edinburgh Zoo into my plans (replacing Thrigby Hall and Howletts).

I will be planning a trip to San Diego for late May to see the new Australian exhibit. I don't travel as much as I used to. I haven't even been to Bearizona yet. :(

I'd wait for tasmanian devils to be there. they will be showing up later, but koala, buerger's and matschie's tree kangaroo, wallaby, common and southern hairy-nosed wombat, echidna and ringtail possum will be there for the opening. not sure if perentie are for the exhibit, but they are at the Zoo, at least.

Not sure if even I have seen those species!

Cool I didn't know they had 2 kinds of wombat and 2 kinds of tree kangaroo and the ringtail possum! Been a while since a ringtail possum has been in the US! Anyone remember any in the US before?

Just for the record, the posts by maguari and EK, were NOT offensive.

Revised and final Europe plan (listed in order of visits):

Le Parc Des Felins (4 days :D)

You're gonna get yourself some great cat shots! Especially jealous of Jerez! Any coincidence you're visiting just after they put the Iberian Lynx on exhibit?

So, these are my plans:

  • January:
    - Zoo Santo Inacio
    - Parque Biológico de Gaia
    - Zoo de Lagos

    April:
    - Jardim Zoológico de Lisboa
    - Oceanário de Lisboa

Summer (May, June, July, August, September):
    - Zoo de Lagos
    - ZooMarine
    - Badoca Safari Park
    - ZooBotanico Jerez
    - Oceanographic Valencia
    - Bioparc Valencia
    - Bioparc Fuengirola
    - Terra Natura Benidorm

Bold - Already visted
Italic - Planned but not done
Underline - Planned

As I'll be in London next week I plan to revisit London Zoo (last visit April 2008) and make a first visit to Whipsnade. The following week and probably most of February I'll be back in Scotland and plan to revisit Edinburgh Zoo (last visit June 2011) and the Highland Wildlife Park (was there a couple of times last year but hoping for some snow this time) and make a first visit to the Five Sisters Zoo.

Well things haven't gone quite to plan as the week I was in London (Jan 12-20) coincided with heavy snow and I never made it to London Zoo or Whipsnade. However I did make it back to Edinburgh Zoo earlier this month and have been to the Highland Wildlife Park 4 times already this year. I also made it to the Five Sisters Zoo, the Scottish Deer Centre and the Scottish Sealife Sanctuary and while visiting friends in Warrington I made my first visits to Knowlsey Safari Park and Chester Zoo. :D

I've already got my first zoo visit of the year (macduff), and during the holidays I should get my 2nd, 3rd, and perhaps 4th zoos (Hazelhead park pets corner, trotters world of animals, and perhaps aberdeen zoology building if they have any animals in the building (which they may)).

Is that Macduff Marine Aquarium you're referring to? Is it worth a visit, as I'm just along the coast in Inverness at the moment.

I wouldn't travel for more than an hour. It's quite good, but lacks birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals.

I'm actually planning to do a review in the next few days

just PM me if you want more info

OK, thanks for that, I'll probably only visit if I'm passing through. I notice the entrance fee is a reasonable £6.20 whereas when I visited the Scottish Sealife Sanctuary (nr Oban) in February it was a whopping £13.20, which I thought was a bit steep! Granted it had a couple of Canadian River Otters and a few recovering seals but that's more expensive than the Highland Wildlife Park!

My plans are:

Adirondack Animal Land
Bronx zoo
Utica Zoo

Possible:

Bailiwick Ranch & Discovery Zoo

Las Vegas Zoo (return)
Columbus Zoo
Mandalay bay Aquarium

I know I'm going to the LV zoo and the aquarium but Im not sure about the Columbus Zoo. Anyone know any good zoos within a couple hours of San Diego.
