Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden What's Gnu At The Cincinnati Zoo? - 2013

Penelope, the female bat-eared fox born last year, has left for the Knoxville Zoo.

The caption says "Africa Glass Installed". I figured the Lions because they're exhibit is the next one being built but it doesn't mention Lions once in the video.

When you look below the video and see the description, it says "Glass is installed for the new Lion Exhibit that is part of Africa the largest exhibit ever built at the Cincinnati Zoo."

does anyone know how the Razo Island skink came to Cincinnati and when ? Did they have more or only the one now on exhibit ? Any breeding experience ?
I just realised I forgot to answer this before. I don't know much but the zoo has had them for over twenty years and they used to breed them. If they only have one left then I guess that is just the remnant after the population petered out or was dispersed. I couldn't find out how they got them but I'd guess it may have been part of a research programme on the species (e.g. possibly someone collected specimens and brought them back to America for study in a captive/lab situation).

Thanks a lot for the information ! If they succesfully bred them, this must have been the World First Breeding with this species ! Do you know if there is any publish information about it ?

I don't know about that, but there are bare records in the International Zoo Yearbooks' listings (e.g. six bred in 1990 [from memory])

How is the current US-population Aye-aye´s doing. Anyone with a list of collections and the numbers they keep ?

I'm not sure about the actual population but these US zoos have them as well.

Eh. So no more American crocodiles in Manatee Springs? it's good to see the Chinese gators get a larger space, but they don't really fit the Florida theme of the building.

What happened to the croc anyway?

She's probably just temporarily off display until the Reptile House is renovated.
