I was surprised last yaer , when there was all the fuss about Shambo the bull with TB , that I saw no mention that they had kept an elephant there for many years .
So was I. I never saw or heard a single mention of it....

I braved the zoo today:
I think Jersey had colobus long before that, and they were a breeding group.
The current Marwell Colobus monkeys came from Paignton (male) and Frankfurt (1 female). I am not sure where the other female came from
The Jersey ones were certainly in the vicinity of the Aye Aye houise- probably the same indoor enclosure. They had an outdoor enclosure attatched to the 'archway' too.
I don't remember this species at ZSL- there was a period when I didn't visit for some years from mid 1980's- they weren't at London before 1984 though. Again, London and Jersey had/have good links over the years so could these have been the Jersey animals?
SWA - you mention 1.2 Marwell colobus. As there are now 2.3 (possibly with another infant this year?), are the other 1.1 presumabling marwell-born offspring?
Thats interesting. Do you know what happened to the 1.3 Hamlyn's Owl faced Monkeys that were also in the Giraffe House (monkey) enclosure and were replaced by the Diana Monkeys? They were not there very long...
Sorry I don't know the answer to that - but they seemed to have left in 2002, so I will try and find the annual report for that year to see if they left or died
