ISIS Database is no longer public

I've also been through the FAQ's and I believe both conclusions you have arrived at are incorrect.

Public can see who has a species of interest, how many. No more.

"How many" could mean exactly what we had before. This program will track lots and lots of specific information about each individual animal, and there is no reason for that information to be accessible to the public. I believe that is what they mean by "no more."

The section talking about the lifetime single Animal Record is more about the details within the data and shouldn't apply to the publicly viewable abstracts.

This however is just my interpretation of the information, and am open to correction.

I have had email confirmation from ISIS that public access will be restored when the conversion to ZIMS is complete. The problem is that the data is currently split between the ZIMS database and the old ISIS database so the current online system no longer provided accurate information.
I just emailed them the other day and the message I got back was "At this point we are unsure if and when the species holding data will be available to the public again. We will update the website with any news as it develops."

They may just be covering their bases but I shall remain only tentatively hopeful at this stage.....

Its still pretty dumb to keep it private, the only reason is to try and extort money for what should be simple information.

I hope the information I've got in May is out of date, but when I asked about ISIS open to the public I got this answer:

We are unsure at this time if species holding will be readily available to the public again. Currently, only ISIS members can access the data on their own. If there are species you have questions on, you can send your requests to news@isis.org and we will supply up to 5 reports at a time for non-members.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

more or less the same as mine: "At this point we are unsure if and when the species holding data will be available to the public again. We will update the website with any news as it develops. In the mean time, feel free to submit any requests to news@isis.org."

Any news yet? Is it public? If not, when will it be?

I don't think it's public just yet.

It was probably posted somewhere on this thread (if so then I must have missed it) but what's the site where you can access the old records? Ituri gave me a link once but my harddrive has since died so I no longer no what it is.

Globalspecies.org gives species holdings based on ISIS records from May 2011, but doesn't get into the number, gender, or birth specifics.

Our frustration with ISIS not being public is boiling over  Does anyone have any new info on what the latest is in regards to their records once again being made public ?
