I'm not certain that the forum has been at its best on this issue: a witch hunt against Gill, lots of conjecture about something that probably doesn't need such conjecture, intemperate comments from many when the case is possibly sub judice right now.

I'm not sure that you don't really mean that you don't care why she died; nor do I think that, on reflection, you would think that your comments about the police and Sarah's family are appropriate in their tone.

Might be time for a number of people to count to ten before posting....

I don't care why she died....only that she died. Death for any reason is tragic....more so when an animal is involved.

The only comment I made about Sarah's family was that of course they're going to say it wasn't suicide......nothing wrong there.

My comments about the police are entirely justified. In my experience, they're so wrapped up in politics that anyone who takes what they say to be gospel is incredibly naive. The police probably tell more untruths than genuine fact. Lets not forget they work for a council in a very bleak part of the country, whose only tourist attraction is this zoo.
I suspect a huge cover up (which in hindsight has gone very wrong).....partly to give comfort to Sarah's poor family at what must be a dreadful time, but also to save face for the zoo. I think what really happened should be made more public to help make sure that similar events won't happen again!

Hmmmm...

The police have their faults, but I'm not sure that the theory you put forward here holds a great deal of water. Certainly, the suggestion that they would cover up a suicide (or an accident) in order to provide succour to a victim's family is simply unfounded.

The police don't "work for" the council, certainly - they are a independent body. And, for what it's worth, hasn't the local council been among the very many organisations that Mr Gill has managed to piss off, over the years?

Anyway - back to the zoo....

Well, believe what you want. I only tried to provide some information from within the park's staff.

I personally think the whole affair is extremely fishy and Gill's bizarre ranting can only be him clutching at straws to cover up something that they don't want the public to know.

I hardly think anyone can be blamed for speculating what that may be......that's human nature after all!

I have not participated in this discussion on this thread as under the present circumstances I consider it inappropriate to do so. Tomorrow is the funeral of Sarah, who died two weeks ago while on duty as a keeper at the South Lakes Wild Animal Park.As a mark of respect to Sarah I would like this discussion to be suspended and tomorrow perhaps we as zoo enthusiasts could spare a few moments in respect to Sarah, and also have her mother, family and partner David in our thoughts, thank you, Kevin.

Excellent idea! Personally I think this thread should be locked permanently, it has gotten too disrespectful (not that anyone did that on purpose!) and many are now discussing conspiracies which is not what is needed for this grieving family right now. Thank you.
