What species would you like to see at your local zoo(s)?

Here in Shanghai, there's not really a specific animal I want to see exhibited in either of the two zoos, just better exhibits for all the current collection so the animals won't be forced to live in tiny jail cells and the visitors won't have to be forced to look at algae instead of animals.

I'm going to try and be a bit more realistic with my lists.

Hmmm, there's a lot I'd like to see in my local zoo! Haha.

Would love to see:
Many more venomous snakes, we only have ones that are native to Illinois.
Indian Python
Timor Python
Different localities of reticulated pythons
Many different colubrid species
More crocodilians
Asiatic lions
Bobcat
Elephants, both species
Indian Rhinoceros
Different lemur species
Tarsier
Chimpanzees
Kiang
Komodo Dragon
Crocodile Monitor
Maned Wolf
Jaguar
Cheetah

And I'll add some more later aha

I know it’s unrealistic, but I would love to see Ivory-Billed Woodpeckers, too! There is some debate on whether they are extinct or not. I think if a pair was found it would probably be a good idea to bring them into captivity to reproduce. I believe that they are still out there, but critically endangered.

I have only one real wish for Whipsnade, but as we're being greedy, how about:
Snow Leopard
Jaguar
Ratel
Brown Hyena
Okapi
Malayan Tapir
Black Rhino
More primates maybe
A small mammal/nocturnal house with indoor & outdoor enclosures, for those bad weather days!
Basically any additional bears/cats/other carnivores would be great. I could be unrealistic & say giant panda.
But my only real wish is obvious i think and if anywhere in England gets them back it surely has to be Whipsnade-Highland WP is too far for me to have to go!

Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo: (Note: You'll see some similarities between my list and Thylo's, and the animals I mention will be brought in as part of an imaginary master plan I created that would last 15-20 years.)
Entrance Exhibits:Galapagos Tortoise, Wolverine
North American PlainsAmerican Badger, Swift Fox, WIld Turkey, American Elk
South American Adventure: Various Tropical Amphibian Species (Smokey Jungle Frog, Waxy Monkey Frog, etc.), Black Spider Monkey, King Vulture, Various Pampas Birds (Guira Cuckoo, Black-Legged Seriema, etc.), Patagonian Cavy, Giant Anteater, Capybara, Black-Necked Swan, Andean Bear, Jaguar
Asian Plateau:Sun/Sloth Bear, Snow Leopard, Red Panda, White-Naped Crane
Alligator Alley: Alligator Snapping Turtle, White-Tailed Deer
New England Farmyard: Eastern Screech Owl, Various Domestic Poultry/Waterfowl, New Breed of Domestic Cattle, Various Wild Waterfowl, Painted Turtle

Your wish list alone would make your zoo better than almost any i can think of, but does it have Polar Bears?

Not any more. One of the highlights of a visit used to be the underwater viewing of the polar bear swimming in their pool. After the last one died a few years ago the decision was made not to pursue replacements. Their habitat was recently remodeled and now is home to a beautiful Grizzly Bear. I'm okay with that.
Btw, I'll settle for just half the animals on my list (as long as the tree kangaroos and the red-shanked douc are included). ;-)

Just so everyone knows, Giant Anteaters are planned by the zoo to come soon as are many of the species other I included in my list. I included them just because the zoo isn't 100% sure that they'll come and plans have haulted before.

I would like Black Spider Monkeys to come to the zoo very much!:) Why White-Tailed Deer in Alligator Alley? They already have them in with the bison. They actually, as I'm sure you know, had a deer in Alligator Alley until the Greater Sandhill Cranes moved to the zoo and the deer was put with the others.

Here is a list of a few species that I would love to see at the Toronto Zoo. I tried to make my list only include species found in captivity.

African wild dog
Okapi
Bongo
Pronghorn
Wolverine
Giant anteater
An additional species of lemur
Southern cassowary
Birds of paradise (any species)
Steller's sea eagle (already planned)
An additional large crocodilian species
Green anaconda
Freshwater stingray
Leaf cutter ant

Given the fact this is truly imaginative,
My local zoo and workplace is the Tulsa Zoo. I would love to see a hippopotamus, the return of polar bears.
Moose
Orangutans
Kit Fox
Capybara
Tapir
Walrus
Javan Rhinos
Manatees
Sea Otter
Wolf
Blue Footed Boobies

Sorry this has gone completely over my head, but which animal is your one wish for Whipsnade Zoo?

I'd like to revise my entrance exhibits, by removing Galapagos Tortoises. I'd also like to add a bird of prey species too.
For South American Adventure, I'd also like to add tapirs.
Thylo- I thought that the Sandhill Crane exhibit was so big that it could be even better used with more species. This would allow the zoo to take in even more unreleasable deer. I know the zoo had a deer in Alligator Alley, but I'm not sure if it moved to North American Plains, or if it died, but it was out of that exhibit a while before the cranes even arrived.

I'd prefer to see the tiny Grey Fox "enclosure" be expanded into the crane exhibit a bit. Thanks for clearing that up, BZF, I was going off information published by the zoo on their website, which, as you know, is severely outdated by several years. I mean, it gets ridiculous when you still have species on there that left years ago!

I live by Brookfield Zoo which is by Chicago, Illinois. Brookfield Zoo used to have African Elephants a few years back, but after one of two elephants by the name of Christy died from kidney failure at the zoo the lone female elephant Joyce moved to California in the unaccredited animal theme park Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. And for almost four years I haven't seen any elephants and I hope elephants will return back to Brookfield zoo soon. In the meantime Brookfield zoo is constructing a larger indoor exhibit for their future elephants if anyone knows when it'll open can you please reply back? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure he means Brown Hyenas, but since I'm not familiar with England, I could be wrong.

No, sorry, it was a bit cryptic, but i asked Keith whether Tulsa had Polar Bears and said Highland wildlife park was too far to go(only UK public zoo holder). I mention it regularly on Whipsnade threads too. Plus my namesake was a polar bear born at London zoo who remained there throughout my childhood. Whipsnade have not held polar bear since the mid 1980s.
