They are supposed to be trying with the Jaguars but to my knowledge she has had 2 stillborn litters,as for the Lions lets just hope that none of them have wonky legs this time, otherwise they may have to re-think about breeding from tha pair.

No its not green well at least the photos i`ve seen of them on the tinter-web are not.

I think you'd be hard pushed to find any green mammals (apart from those algae polar bears)- though at least that's something we can definitely rule out.

Can I ask, has anyone guessed right so far?

If not, is it porcine?

What about the green acouchy and green monkey for green mammals? At least they have green in the name.

What clues do we have?
Would be the only ones in Europe
An ungulate species
A small species
Not green

How about pygmy hog from India?
royal antelope from USA?
bay, red flanked or black duiker from USA?
Phillips dik-dik from Al Wabra?
Calamian deer from USA?

Guess who's been flicking through ISIS?

I would also like to add that i don't think it is a savannah species, if it is going in the East Zoo. I'm going to guess a Duiker species to share with the okapi.

Not you by any chance, some nice animals on the list.Pygmy Hogs and a few other species of swine are wanted at the zoo by Mark Pilgrim. Also i don`t think i ever said what size the animal was.

Also i don`t think i ever said what size the animal was.

The clue we were going off, was the one the animal would be hard to see in the Bongo enclosure (when you ruled out it going in there). So therefore our guest have been of a smaller species.

Giant forest hogs
Kouprey
Mountain tapirs
Saola
Palawan bearded pig
Tibetan antelope
Mindoro dwarf buffalo..............

Ha ha johnstoni, I was just about to say a mixed exhibit of kouprey and saola...

Why so coy, zoogiraffe? Anyway, whatever it is, it will probably go the way of the addax and so we will never find out...

I think i speak on behalf of everyone here when i say we respect the confidence you have with the keepers, its just a bit of fun having a guess.

Of course I understand that, I wasn't getting at you.

Saiga? Nearly none left in Europe
Hirola
Jentink's duiker
Baiji (after all cetaceans are now in with artiodactyla so could be regarded as ungulates)

Can't be mountain tapir, I don't think, as these are/ or very soon will be in Europe. I did think about giant forest hogs, but thought it unlikely- would love to be proved wrong on that!

This is true, but neither are really that green are they? I think it's just a combination of yellow and black hairs look a kind of olive green overall. DeBrazza's have a similar olive tinge.

Don`t worry not taken personally, will say its not a cetacean species they are looking at.

Are you referring to the rumours about Cologne or is there something more concrete afoot?

its not a cetacean species they are looking at.

I didn't mean this seriously; even if Chester wanted to get dolphins there would be a huge capital outlay to house them adequately. As there are no cetaceans in captivity in the UK any more and they are the number one target for the anti-zoo brigade, I doubt if anyone would seriously consider bringing them in.
