Sorry I didn't realise it was mainland western kangaroo as on the the website it said western kangaroo and it does at the zoo. So I did not bother to check for another with a similar name on zootierliste.
Some news from my visit today
- the order of enclosures opposite the gibbons is now, mara, vicuña, kangaroo, empty but will soon be available for kangaroo and emu, emu.
- there are two kangaroos and two emus. They have done nothing to change the enclosures apart from paint the walls yellow. They have not finished in the middle enclosure. There are also massive fences to stop you getting close to the new animals
- the prarie dogs have had more sand and soil added to their enclosure for them to dig in
- the new capybara and tapir enclosure is a mixed one however the tapir doesn't have acces to the capybaras indoor area. The capybaras also have a seperate area away from the tapir. The enclosure is bigger than the old one but doesn't have a pool.
- I unfortunately didn't see the bush dog babies
- I did see an elephant swimming in the deep water and at one time it went completely under the water.
- jabo and his son mongo have been moved to the chimp enclosure next to the prarie dogs.
- the orangutan kibraih looked very round and is due in just over a month
- I dint see any muntjac is their any way of viewing them apart from through the toilets
- the new play area was very busy and himalaya was packed
- their was a taster for the new bug zone it was a house with snails stick insects and cockroaches however they will expand this area for Easter.
- there were no bat eared foxes on show for the sixth time in a row does anyone have any tips on when to see them
