How immersive are the outdoor parts going to be? It looks impressive but I wonder what it will be like in a British winter.

Well a bleak chill day is a bleak chill day, but speaking of the landscape, quite a large variety of suitable plants can be grown well there (many already are at Chester)

Bet you don't remember which year! :p

It was 6th July 2013, the date of the mammal walk and talk, I also remember the hot weather of 1976, I like it hot and sunny, and it was the year I became a Chester member and I have not paid to enter Chester Zoo since then.

Interesting video. I hope that the comment about 'themeing up' (sic) the orang exhibit, which might also be termed 'hamming up', does not mean that the themes will be overdone. I am also wondering what the Islands jungle with smell like, perhaps we could open a book on it ;)

Alan

I am concerned that the whole project will be 'hammed up'.

Just had a response form the Islands blog about the tapirs. They are NOT going to be part of Islands when it opens next year. Apparently they me be a later addition...

A few exhibits/species that were shown in the original plans will not be there when it opens such as the Komodo dragons

Sun bears were also mentioned in the initial announcement, if I remember correctly.

All of which may or may not be added at a later date as there will be space for new exhibits to be built afterwards!
