Colchester Zoo Colchester Zoo news 2014

yet again i will be visiting the zoo again tomorrow is there anything anyone wants me to add to the gallery or look out for.:)

The orangutans haven't been mentioned for a while. Are they still getting on together? Is Tiga maturing? Is Rajang still fit and well?

yes tiga is a very big boy now i believe he is bigger than rajang.(not sure on spelling) and rajang is getting on fine .

had a lovely visit today despite the zoo being so busy. the Geoffrey cats are of show now due to the two enclosures there have been boarded up for some reason. i think there might be some sort of development work there .
the zebras are really nice and where with a rhino in the hardstand area.
apparently sayan the leopard will leave the collection if he does not breed with milena this year. the horn bills are in there new house but cannot go outside yet. and the bears are great and will post pictures later.

I'm sure someone posted previously that the Geoffroys Cats were leaving(which annoyed me!) & the capuchins were moving to the old sun bear(orang) enclosure.

Actually, according to a comment the zoo made on a Facebook status, there is now only one Geoffroy's cat left- the female (Scorpio).

Akio the Pileated Gibbon was outside this morning playing around with his blanket, there is hope that the Great Grey Owl female is sitting on a net with a clutch of eggs, the zebra was on the hard stand for most of the day before being let back inside in the warm

been to the zoo today (again) and taken lots of pictures will upload some onto the gallery and noted a few things such as the orangutans where separated for some reason and a new ant colony have arrived as well as the zebra still in the hardstand. i also believe that the male mangabeys are back with the group. and the tortoise enclosure by mangabeys is going to be redeveloped. and the patas monkeys have disappeared as well as the male gelada baboon in there.

Another recent move is three of the female Komodo dragon youngsters, now six months old, to Chester Zoo.

Excellent, if true. This would bring the collection up to a total of 1,5 komodo dragon.
