I would think the zoo would do a big send off weekend before they shipped Harapan out. He's the last Sumatran in the US, likely last ever. Why not through a farewell bash for him to boost visits in the days prior to his departure?
What is the purpose of the unattractive rock wall between the “Savanna" and Lion exhibit? Did one of the Lions test the water in the moat? 10' wide is a lot. Does it run from Lion Holding to where the “Savanna" Moat empties into the Lion Moat?
Harapan is now rotating exhibits with a Red River Hog. I first passed the hog exhibit and my heart stopped as I thought Harry had left the zoo.
This doesn't make sense. Not only does it slice someone's chance of seeing Harapan one last time in half, but also there are two enclosures, why not just give the hog one and Harry the other?

Here's what is looks like...
Thanks, Moebelle. I guess it works.
Just for the heck of it, what do you think they will make of the blue tubes? Maybe a holding for real trees, or the first step of making fake ones?
According to the zoo's new map, Lorikeet Landing will be called the Free Flight Aviary, and we won't be seeing Meerkats in Africa... there will be Bat-eared Foxes![]()
Is the zoo moving the Bat-Eared Foxes in Night Hunters over?
