Indianapolis Zoo Indianapolis Zoo News

I was planning on taking my family up to Indy this weekend but after seeing this it is not worth the money.

As has been commented in the orang house gallery thread - $26 is not at all expensive by the standards of the UK or the Netherlands.

Indianapolis' new highest entrance fee is about on a par with Yorkshire Wildlife Park's £15.50 and around US$15 less than adult entry at Whipsnade.

UK examples (single adult, at-the-gate, peak season):

Dudley: £14, approx $24
YWP: £15.50, approx $26
Blackpool: £15.99, approx $27
Edinburgh: £16.50, approx $28
Twycross: £16.95, approx $29
Chester: £22, approx $37
Whipsnade: £23.50, approx $40
London: £26, approx $44

All of these are 'traditional' zoos (not theme parks).

I guess it's all about what you're used to!

:D

I'll throw some Australian zoos in for comparison (I've rounded the American dollar results).

Halls Gap Zoo: $24aud, $23usd
Perth Zoo: $24.50, $23
Melbourne Zoo: $30, $28
Adelaide Zoo: $31.50, $30
Taronga Zoo: $46, $43
Western Plains Zoo: $47, $44
Australia Zoo: $59, $55

It does not matter what zoos in Australia or Europe are charging. What matters is what other zoos here in the midwestern United States are charging.

Columbus Zoo-14.99
Brookfield Zoo-16.95
Henry Doorly Zoo (Omaha)-15.00
St Louis Zoo- FREE
Lincoln Park Zoo-FREE
Cincinnati Zoo-15.00
Minnesota Zoo-18.00
Louisville Zoo-15.95

All of these zoos in our opinion are superior to the Indianapolis Zoo and the prices are not even close.By the way all though we have not visited any of the international zoos listed most of them are held in high regard by the zoo community thus making them superior to Indy as well.Bottom line Indianapolis Zoo officials are out of their minds.

The Skyline Ride will remained closed until spring, while its been fixed it would have been closing soon anyway so they are just going to wait until spring to have it inspected again. Probably makes sense since they likely would have had to pay for an inspection now for a very short period and again in the spring after sitting unused all winter. At least they were able to fix the problem pretty fast.

Indianapolis Zoo expects Skyline Ride to stay closed

Has it been announced yet on here that Koalas will replace the Bats in the Forests exhibit?

I may be a bit late on this, but does anybody know where the bats went and if they are coming back when the koalas depart?
