Guess the species #6

Sorry about the delay, I was out of town all day and was unable to access ZooChat. I'm not ready to post photos at the moment, so I think I'll pass my turn to gentle lemur if he/she wishes to go (gentle lemur got Goeldi's right, which I thought was harder than the ground hornbill, so that's why he/she's first), and if not then nanoboy gets my turn.

A couple easy ones to keep things moving. The pics are a mixture of wild and captive animals.

And since they are so easy, I need their full names. (i.e. instead of just "wombat", I need "Northern hairy-nosed wombat").

Moebelle says:

1. Short-nosed Bandicoot
2. ?
3. Matschie's Tree Kangaroo
4. Short-beaked Echidna
5. Tawny Frogmouth

2.5 correct.

I'm guessing the 2.5 means that I have a genus correct but not the species?

1. Short-nosed Bandicoot
2. Powerful Owl
3. Matschie's Tree Kangaroo
4. Short-beaked Echidna
5. Tawny Frogmouth

3.5 correct. Genus correct for one response, but species wrong.

1. Eastern Barred Bandicoot
2. Powerful Owl
3. Koala
4. Short-beaked Echidna
5. Tawny Frogmouth

5/5 correct! Well done!

Moebelle got 3.5 correct and you got all correct, so I am ok with either of you posting.

However, let this be the tie-breaker: 1. Name the bird species above the pair of frogmouths, and 2. Name the bird species pecking the rump of the koala.

The rule is whoever names the most correct species before another does is awarded the edge (as I say) and or becomes the winner.

These are the rules carried over from the last thread:

1) one to five photos are allowed per round
2) photos must belong to the poster because that was the whole point of the game when it started
3) if pets or other domestic animals are used the poster must state that one or more of the photos is/are of a domestic animal (and specific breed is not required for the answer)
4) the poster determines how specific an answer is required for wild animals
4a) an individual animal's name is not required!!
5) NO edits are allowed to answers once posted. If you want to make a new guess then make a new post!
6) the winner is determined by the poster, usually the person who gets most correct but alternatively whomever gets the last correct answer or who posts all correct answers in one post
7) the poster's decision for winner is final

8) the winner can relinquish his or her turn to whomever he/she desires
8a) winners who can't or don't want to post photos can pass on their turn to another member, or leave an open invitation to post photos
9) if the winner does not post photos within 24hrs of the proclamation of the win, anyone can post a new set of photos to keep the game moving
10) new rules can be introduced through the running of the game to the agreement of players
11) old rules can be jettisoned to the agreement of the players

Judging by my post above, the way the attachments get affixed has changed, and you don't appear to be able to open the "attached images" (which you can with the "attached thumbnails").

Well, see the rules above. :D Tie-breaker - name the aforementioned birds.

I might slightly edit rule #6 because there are obviously more options than the ones I had there.
I will change it to:

6) the winner is determined by the poster and the reason is at their discretion, usually the person who gets most answers correct but alternatively e.g. whoever gets the last correct answer, who posts all correct answers in one post, etc

That is not easy nanoboy!

I think the bird above the frogmouths is a Little Raven, but I have no idea what the bird behind the koala is, I can just see a silhouetted head, which doesn't give me much to work with. I'll guess Noisy Miner based on the behaviour.

It is indeed a Little Raven!

Although you are just seeing the silhouette, there is a noticeable feature on the side of its face that gives it away. Photo taken in Victoria along the Yarra.
