Guess the species #6

Two correct guesses so far...

For the record, I'm sticking with the winner is the first one with all five answers in one post - I like the mix-and-matching phase at the end! :D

As such, unless it really starts dragging on I will only say how many right answers have been given and not which ones or who guessed them.

2) Warthog (Phacochoerus africanus africanus)
3) Blesbok
4) Cape Ground Squirrel
5) Yak

1) Forest Reindeer
2) Northern Warthog
3) Blesbok
4) Cape Ground Squirrel
5) Domestic Pig

Still only two correct answers so far.

I'll give you the slight nudge that none of the species are domestic forms of any kind, and none, to my knowledge, have ever been domesticated.

Bit quiet in here! :D

Still only two correct guesses. If no new ones by the morning (UK time - so 8/9hr) I'll let you know the zoo, which should get things moving! If it helps, and against my wishes(!), 3 and 4 are the ones that have been guessed correctly.

I never said the zoo was in Europe, Thylo! :D

(it is, though ;) )

I didn't know there was more than one species of wildebeest! I learn something new every day. Anyway, is it a wildebeest?

Well with Cape Ground Squirrel being one of the species (and I know it is because there were no other guesses for that number when you said it was right), I figured it had to be in Europe:D

Traditionally, there are two species of wildebeest - Connochaetes taurinus (Blue Wildebeest or Brindled Gnu) and C. gnou (Black Wildebeest or White-tailed Gnu). Up to five species have recently been proposed, however.

For reasons I cannot explain, if I mean both or either species in general I say 'wildebeest', but I use the 'gnu' forms to refer to each species specifically.

No. 5 is, in fact, a wildebeest, but I'll hold fire on confirming which just for a short time... :p
