UK zoos, wildlife if Scotland secedes

They are already in the EU so i can't see them being kicked out. The oil seems to be he only reason the UK government want them to stay. There are far to many people living in this country (60m). that oil will keep 5m in Scotland happy much longer.

Sorry but it's the UK that is in the EU and not Scotland as a solo country they WILL have to apply to join, the rest of the UK receive very little from the oil revenue the quote about the oil was for Scotland only as BP,Q8 & Extran have already stated over the last 5 years they will be closing oil fields from around 2017 in the North sea that's why they are exploring areas around the rest of the UK

But if Scotland leaves, the UK ceases to exist. By rights if Scotland get kicked out so should we. Sorry the way the panic has set in over the last couple of days, Scotlands Oil is the only thing that appeals to the UK. would we lose any sleep if they never had any oil? No we'd have said " So you want to bugger off eh? Do you want us to pack your bags?"

If the Scots don't like the deal can they change their minds during or after the negotiations?

This is a moot point. It seems that the majority in next week's vote may well be narrow, whichever side 'wins'. Then the results of the general election in the UK next year and the Scottish parliamentary election in May 2016 may well become significant.

Speaking personally, the oil doesn't bother me. With all its many murky episodes, I think that the union of England and its Celtic neighbours has given the world a great deal and I'd be sad to see it go. And if Scotland voted "yes", the UK would still exist as a legal entity, just as Indonesia carried on after East Timor went its own way.

I'd have thought (but don't know for certain) that there would be a lot more paperwork involved in moving animals between countries rather than within a country... That may cause delays with imports and exports and a delay can easily cause a change of plan! Still agree it probably won't have a massive impact but the people dealing with that sort of thing within zoos will probably notice a change!

I'm expecting a close result, and that will resolve nothing. Better a close defeat for the referendum than a close victory, though, as it's much easier to hold another referendum if sentiment changes than to undo independence.

With votes still be counted, it looks almost certain that Scotland will remain in the United Kingdom. So for now no need to worry about complicated animal transfers between England and Scotland.
