What exactly has he not learnt? Did this person get mauled and killed by the tiger in this incident? Surely there is not a problem provided the enclosure, house and gates are all secure, which I presume they are now otherwise the place would surely be shut down.

I'm not a massive fan of Mr Gill but we shouldn't just jump on the band wagon and shoot them down for every single thing they do.

The park have announced the birth of 2 jaguar cubs.

"Bonita and jaguar cubs are doing well - Stuart and Dawn had booked a big cat feeding and were lucky enough to be in the right place to see the first cub arrive - and captures these shots - one with dad Saka watching on Stuart's hoping if one's a boy we name him after him"

I find it poor practice and lack of correct animal husbandry skills and management when such nonsense appears as this. What's next ...Dave Gill with the public giving bottle feeding?

Please don't give him ideas.

If they don`t give "Bonita" enough privacy things will go wrong.
(When is that man going to learn!)

A female capuchin monkey escaped from the zoo at 3pm today. I'm pretty sure the same thing happened a few years back?

Monkey escapes from Dalton zoo (From The Westmorland Gazette)

Yes, it happened back in 2010. Personally, I feel its now high time that the zoo community and council acted upon this muppet of a so-called zoo owner. More animals have escaped, injured, incidents of this and that, a keepers death and other staff injuries. hat is it going to take for this fool to be stopped, because he is a dangerous fool.

From a photo in the Gallery it seems they come and go a bit around the enclosure. Has a second monkey actually escaped today as per the newspaper article?

Muppet, fool, dangerous fool? So childish namecalling is acceptable on this forum now. (JUST SEEMS TOO PERSONAL) I am obviously missing something on this topic/witchhunt as Ibis and little monkeys going awol hardly merits such outrage. All zoos have the odd escape.
There is obviously some major vendetta against this zoo and its owner and it all seems to be far too personal and negative.
Surely I am not alone in thinking there is a lack of balance and fairness when this zoo is discussed on this forum. Anybody trying to give a tiny word of praise is shouted down and bullied.
I cannot praise or slag off this zoo as I have yet to visit but it maddens me and triggers my hatred of bullying to read these repetitive and blatently unfair posts.

It just gets better... Yes, a 2nd Capuchin was found to be missing this morning. It also now appears that the first escaped at the end of last week but was not reported to police until yesterday afternoon

You don't need me dublinlion to put scorn on this man and his issues. Indeed you have missed something, even on FB zoo forum groups the man goes about calling every keeper a blatant pile of trolling comments. From the many numerous animal escapes, not just the dd one or two. Indeed most zoos and parks do have the odd escapee but sadly Mr Gill has a greater number than all parks put together., and thats also including his previous park in Australia which he was charged over and frowned upon.

It strikes me that posting up typically sensationalist newspaper headlines is not a convincing arguement in favour of the closure of this zoo. A newspaper will always spice up their headlines to sell more papers.
If we Google "zoo animal escapes", there are many headlines reporting animals more dangerous than birds and little monkeys escaping from some very reputable zoos and I will certainly not mention them here or attempt to bring discredit to them.
Peta headlines state that more than three quarters of all UK zoos are operating at below minimum standards. (I assume they refer to their standards).
I have survived the presence of free flying ibis in the streets of Sydney and huge fierce looking monkeys on the Rock of Gibraltar.
ps
At this point I will retire again to the backbenches of the silent majority and let the Salemites reign lol.

@ bigcatspecial, Thanks for the reply, it is plain to see that you have a strong personal dislike of this organisation and thats fair enough but I have an aversion to the use of scaremongering newspaper headlines as a means of point scoring or backup. (there is a fair bit of backup from the Chester Zoo clique anyway lol.)
Balance is all I desire, although it is fascinating in one respect to see all the usual suspects, clamouring to attack some currently out of favour establishments while sucking up to the more fashionably popular.
Maybe in years to come David Gill will evoke the same whimsy and devotion as the Durrells and Mottersheads etc. or maybe not.

"But the zoo’s hopes of finding the monkeys will be buoyed by the success of a similar operation only four years ago.
On that occasion a three-year-old capuchin called Tony went on the run for five days.
He was eventually caught by the zoo’s owner David Gill wandering around in a local graveyard."

A spokesman for Cumbria police said: ‘Police were called today at 9.11am with confirmation that a second monkey has escaped.
‘This follows a juvenile female Capuchin monkey that escaped at the weekend and has been sighted in the Dalton-in-Furness area.
‘These animals do not pose an immediate risk to the public, however it is capable of biting or scratching anyone who attempts to approach it.’
An incident at the 17-acre zoo, which first opened in 1994, was the subject of an inquest last month.
Animal keeper Sarah McClay, 24, was mauled to death by a tiger that had access to a restricted corridor in which she was standing.
She had been working in the supposedly safe keeper’s corridor, from which she could access the tiger pens through metal doors, which were bolted shut.
But the inquest was told that a bolt on a door between the tiger’s pen and the corridor used by keepers had been ‘defective’."
