On April 18th, our female warthog Lily gave birth to piglets. This was her first litter, and it is not uncommon for female warthogs to not show maternal behavior when they give birth for the first-time. Unfortunately this was the case with Lily. These two piglets were safely removed and are being hand-raised. The warthog piglets will be on exhibit in the meerkat exhibit in the main building daily starting today for very limited times. Hopefully the times will be expanded as the piglets get used to the exhibit and don’t require so much sleep time. As of right now, the schedule is: 1:00 to 1:15 PM and 3:30 – 3:45 PM.
