Erie Zoo Erie Zoo News

The next exhibit to be renovated is the outdoor lion exhibit (formerly the outdoor gorilla/currently capybaras). This is what money earned from rounding up food and gift shop totals to the next dollar are currently going towards.

That is good news! It baffled me when the lions moved into the old indoor gorilla exhibit why they didn't get the outside section too. But now thinking of it, I'm sure it had to do with height of set up and a chance of them jumping across moated area.

From Facebook:

On April 18th, our female warthog Lily gave birth to piglets. This was her first litter, and it is not uncommon for female warthogs to not show maternal behavior when they give birth for the first-time. Unfortunately this was the case with Lily. These two piglets were safely removed and are being hand-raised. The warthog piglets will be on exhibit in the meerkat exhibit in the main building daily starting today for very limited times. Hopefully the times will be expanded as the piglets get used to the exhibit and don’t require so much sleep time. As of right now, the schedule is: 1:00 to 1:15 PM and 3:30 – 3:45 PM. Stop by the Erie Zoo to see our newest babies!
