LOL I'm an English professor teaching writing, so I'd be in bad shape if I couldn't catch typos! I never would have mentioned it, though, if the meaning of the sentence weren't so important!!
I heard some months ago that FW's Angel was the only pregnant Asian in US zoos. Depending on when she was bred, the sire could be Casey, Romeo, or Colonel. With unproven studs like Casey and Colonel, they would have probably tried several, perhaps with AI, to ensure success, so results may not even be known for paternity until after the calf is born.
Yes, Indy is a sure thing. Although the elephant house's "annex" could house a second bull temporarily, Indy is a "lot of bull" to manage, and they are clearly waiting for Kandula's departure for OKC. Staff from Syracuse, Indy's longtime home, will be coming to work with NZP staff for a crashcourse in managing him. They're clearly choosing to focus first on Kandula, then on Indy. Kandula has always been a very entertaining character to observe. I will miss him dearly, but I'm anticipating that Indy's big personality could help fill a lot of the void. LOL Indy, it would seems, regularly threw things at elephants and humans who displeased him!
I did get a clarification on his breeding plans over the weekend, however. Plans for Indy go back far enough that part of the plan was for him to breed Shanthi, since he's the one bull with success, they know each other, etc. However, as many suspected, this ship has long since sailed. Her last calf was 14 years ago, and NZP stopped AI attempts nearly 5 years ago. So the plan now is for Maharani for have Indy all to herself.
