Guess the zoo

then I'll go with Lord Derby's collection (was that at Knowsley? I forget) and the Tower of London Menagerie. Going old school.

No, both wrong.

The first northern white rhinos in the UK arrived at London Zoo in 1955 - long after the days of the Tower Menagerie and Lord Derby's collection (which was, indeed, at Knowsley).

ok then, let's say Dudley and Chester. I have no basis for my guessing :D

I'm guessing both the Knowsley and the now closed Southampton, as I heard a while ago they used to have them?

Yes, this is the correct answer.

Southampton Zoo had a male northern white rhinoceros, “Gus”, between 1964 and 1967.

Knowsley Safari Park had a female northern white rhinoceros, “Twink, between 1971 and 1977. She was sent to Dvur Kralove in 1977 where she died in 1992.

“Chlidonias” was partly correct in mentioning Knowsley but the answer was Knowsley Safari Park not the Knowsley Menagerie (the private collection belonging to Lord Stanley, Earl of Derby).
