Dear zoochatters,
Yesterday I went finally to SDZ. It was a great experience but a bit disappointing for me, as I missed a lot of dreamed especies from the list of DavidBrown. Some just hidden like Storm,s stork, some from enclosures under construction-remodelation, and many, many apparently disappeared forever, from coconut crab to green broadbill. And also many species that I was able to see but not to photograph as they were in very bad position or in very bad places of the enclosures (fossa, fennecs, tentacled snake, etc...) In fact, most especies exhibits are very uninviting for photographs. The very worst thing was that, by my surprise, the animal that I wanted more to see here, the star of the zoo, the symbol of SDZ for me, was off-exhibit because enclosure was remodelating... So I miss the unique California Condor. I will not visit SafariPark because there is not public transport.
But I must be positive... I got a lot of pics of interesting species, and I hope to get many more in next days. Probably is better to ser things without planning first, so one doesn,t expect certain species and don,t miss them.
By the other hand, I,m in love with San Diego and the extreme kindness of every people that I talked with! Also saw my first wild hummingbirds (it,s my first time in America).
