I thought that may have been the last Australian update from the year, but I just saw a skink just outside my house which I have managed to identify thanks to the 'Skinks Of The Perth Region' app.

20) Fence Skink (Cryptoblepharus buchananii)

(Note: I am hoping to be able to add a few of the herps that I didn't manage to identify from Kenya later this year when I buy the Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians of East Africa. Hopefully that will add five or more new species)

Back to my old haunt of north-west Wales today - don't normally do it as a day trip so I had fingers crossed it would be worth the drive time. Managed to hit Cemlyn Bay, Point Lynas, Bangor Pier and Caernarfon Harbour (simply because I had a dinner appointment, but produced all the fish and both jellies). Very much worth it in the end, with new species for five of my six lists (only amphibs missing out) - and the usually-reliable Point Lynas porpoises returned after being absent for my visit in February!

I arrived in the UK yesterday evening and I expected my first new bird for the year to be a Red Kite, however surprisingly it wasn't, and was my first UK sighting of the species which I had previously only seen in Poland.

I need to get my list going, but with a Polar Bear this week outside Barrow, I'm a Three Bears Alaskan this year. Technically the Black Bear was in California, but still...all three United States bear species. First time in a few years.

569) Common Linnet

Driving to the New Forest (UK) at the moment and just got an addition from out the window.

570) Red Kite
