ZSL London Zoo ZSL London Zoo News 2016

An aye-aye was born at London in July, it is mentioned in the Summer 2016 edition of Zoo Grapevine the IZES magazine

I talked about to a member of staff when I was there, so unless she hadn't heard about it and didnt want to reveal ignorance I'm confident it's true.

Erm... Does that mean she didn't know it was there, or she did, or she denied knowledge, or confirmed it?!

Yes - that was what prompted my question, actually. I'm not sure what the IZES source is - it could just be Zoochat, possibly....

Ok I messaged Panthera and they said it was in the Director General update for August, so it must be true then!

The damaged windows in Gorilla Territory were being replaced today so Gorillas are inside but viewable in the inside enclosure (possibly until Friday'ish) .. Looks like the two large damaged ones are being replaced with four half size windows with a frame support in the middle.

Shame on you, Sooty! Our news source is much more reliable than that!
(No offence to ZooChat, but we're careful about checking the veracity of the news we print)

Worth mentioning that multiple members of staff at the zoo (keepers, info kiosk and volunteers) denied all knowledge of a baby aye-aye during my visit yesterday.

It is also worth mentioning that the zoo may not be ready to announce it 'publicly' just yet and therefore could have informed the volunteers not to say anything about it? Or they may just not have informed any of the kiosk or volunteer team.

Visited today. Bhanu was in the main paddock with Heidi and Indi, whilst Rubi was in the 'station' paddock. Later on, the three girls were in the 'station' paddock and Bhanu was fully walking around the main paddock, up to the sheltered 'hut' and the waterfront, before being sent back inside after a good hour or so. Good to see him in with the girls, who seemed very interested in and friendly with him! Not sure why Rubi wasn't in there, perhaps not as keen as the other girls.
Let's hope he mates with them soon!

My guess would be that if Rubi continues to stay separated, she will be introduced to the Indian couple when they finally arrive (no idea when) and the twins will remain with Bhanu.

What species are we talking about...?

Reason the question had to be asked! I think most will be surprised the females have finally moved from their corner!!

Mixing him even temporarily with two of the females, and/or changing them around a bit has probably stimulated some more active behaviour. I think when he is living with the females fulltime he will be prove more visible as they will group together.

I was thinking of making my first visit tomorrow but since I am driving all the way down from Yorkshire can anyone tell me what the parking is like please? Also is it a good time to visit or am I better waiting for a bit?

I think you can now get free parking if you buy your entry first (online I suppose) and present it at the barrier. I would think it's as good a time as any out of holiday seasons.

Thanks everyone, so there's a good chance il manage to get parked ok then? As a first time visitor is there anything particular to look out for or any tips?
