For some reason random nocturnal exhibits around the zoo lately have had their day lights on. Through these three weeks I've seen the Fennec Fox, Fishing Cat, Potto, Eurasian Eagle Owl, and Feather-tail Glider exhibit lights on.
Ah yes the well known Cliff Dwelling Mountain Potto. It inhabits rocky crags above the tree line on Mt Kilimanjaro. At least that's what I'm deriving from this presentation. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but is adequate really the goal here?
I'm sorry Moebelle but I'd have to agree that, while the Potto may be active, this enclosure certainly could be better and should have a lot more climbing opportunities. I mean, it's not the worst it could be, but it certainly could be a lot better.
I assume the roof of the cage is mesh....that would be a climbing source for the potto.
Also they don't move much, so they don't need an insane amount of climbing space.

Maybe not an insane amount, but at least more than 3 small branches....
Many cats in the Alfred Brehm house are also really active, but being active is by no means a good measure to determine how suitable an exhibit may (or in this case may NOT) be in most cases.
that's quite an understatement! You say this is a nice exhibit for the potto, yet how much of this exhibit space can it utilise? 5% maybe? A potto is adapted solely for climbing on branches. It doesn't run or leap or fly, it just climbs. In this exhibit the entire living space for the animal (which even Moebelle stated is "constantly active") are the two uprights and the horizontal branch.
If you plonked a tub of water in the centre of this cage and put a goldfish in the tub, would the exhibit be great for a goldfish? Of course not, because 95% of it would be useless to the fish.
As it is furnished here, this could be a very nice exhibit for something small and primarily-terrestrial -- say, the aforementioned weasel -- but for a potto it is emphatically not.

See Thylo... this is the kind of overreaction and negativity I was talking about. These are the silly things that made me want to leave this site (which I am after our conversation).
