It is yet to be noted on here, but the zoo announced the death of male Komodo Dragon "Trooper" at the end of May. He passed away after a short illness.

The most recent annual report confirms they recieved a new female last year; I believe she is currently offshow.

The youngsters bred at the zoo are no longer in the collection.

A young female arrived in the spring of 2012. She is currently offshow in the Tropical Realm and will be on show later in the year in Islands in Danger.

last time i visited the komodo enclosure had a sign saying it was being re-developed. Does anyone know what they are doing to it?

There are now 7 red-breasted goslings on show in the new bird rearing house, and in the new aviaries behind the banteng, are two parrot species. The birds on the left are grey-breasted conures, the birds on the right I have not been able to identify.

There were also two pelicans just about visible in the back paddock of the rearing house on Tuesday. Looked like Dalmatians but couldn't swear to it.

They look like Dalmatians to me. I don't know if they are recent imports, birds waiting to be exported or this year's chicks. There is never anyone about to ask.

There is now a sign for Black Lion Tamarins on the West side of Miniature Monkeys. Eastern Pygmy Marmosets are still present, though I saw no Black-Tailed Marmosets and their sign has been removed.

Stuma and Tafari the Okapi were separated on my visit, Stuma was off-show.

Black Lion Tamarins? Hope this is true, would be great for the walk and talk! :D

Chester are reporting via Twitter/Facebook that Black rhino, Zuri has given birth today at about midday in the Tsavo rhino house.

If accurate re: the tamarins, I suspect Javan Rhino will be delighted.

It was mentioned last year.

Thje aviaries behind the banteng house grey-breasted conures and Mount Apo lorikeets.

The pelicans in the bird rearing aviary are the young hatched in 2011, a first U.K. breeding that the zoo has not publicised.
