Knowing Gill he will likely claim to have the extinct 11th species and hope no one questions it
Sorry, not that up on birds! I'll post the picture I took! And yes agree - he seems to do the same with his giraffe's - he once 'tried' to tell me there was no subspecies of giraffe when I questioned what exactly he had![]()
Here is the picture of the cara cara
I can't remember exactly what happened with the giraffes - but some new ones appeared and he claimed them to be a rarer kind than they actually were. It seemed to me that there was some strange differences in size/markings of the herd.
There are some baby capabara at the moment. We had an interesting time watching the babies run off from the bears when they came too near and even otters that were living in the same enclosure. Let's hope that no-one get's too hungry in there!

There were six babies... I'll let you know if there are still six when the zoo changes to 'free' entry - we probably won't go again now before that happens
I heard on the grapevine that the wolves will be arriving soon... they best get the enclosure built post haste. I was glad to hear that the elephant plans have been put on the back burner. I think that some of the cats definately need to have a bit more space - too much sharing going on![]()
Wait! This zoo wants elephants!

Planned to share an enclosure with the big cats I believein the great tradition of South Lakes mixed-exhibits.
Ha ha ha! Can I ask what may be a stupid question (I am not a zoo employee or animal trained, just an avid zoo and animal fan) - how does Gill get away with this? Does he not have to adhere to certain standards? Surely the zoo licencing people aren't really keen on these mixed exhibits?!
hehe
I know you were joking, I was playing alongGood one, though.

A question for the ages, that one....
