It is pretty strange, but I guess we don't have that many Javan slow loris fans here on zoochat. No votes for the Javan slow loris yet ?
Hmmmm, interesting.

Yes, It could be very well the comparison between these two. When I did my poll on "whats your favorite species of slow loris" the winner was the Javan slow loris.I'm sure there are, it is just the turn out for this poll is a little low in comparison with others.

Galago's don't have a blanket prohibition by CITES to my knowledge so I assume they are more likely to be overharvested.
Still sold often, but I imagine less observed by the government. But I imagine they are no longer sold in the pet trade as frequently as they once were.

Well okay, that makes sense. Not openly and legally in petshops of every European capital or major US city as it once was though.
Sweet video. Can't wait for the next poll O.C.!Just one more day till the poll closes and the dwarf galago is likely to win.
But I thought I'd share this short documentary from the excellent "Little fire face project" NGO which works with the research and conservation of endangered slow and slender loris species throughout South and South-East Asia.

I still can't believe that literally NO ONE voted for the Javan slow loris, I expected at least someone to vote for it.
Indeed.Well this poll will finish tomorow and then the lemur poll will finish next week too.
I'll post the next one fairly soon which will be on old world monkeys from Africa.
I expected a couple of votes for the loris too but I guess the fact is that the loris has far more conservation back up than the galago and people can feel this keenly and vote accordingly for it as the underdog.
I mean the fact that the short documentary I posted above has been made about the species really highlights this as there is none and very limited media attention for the galago unfortunately.![]()
