On September 12th, the zoo posted an update about their (
1.0) Speke's gazelle named Gondar who broke his leg during spring 2021. He is recovering well, and is expected to make his full public debut over the course of the next couple of months.

On September 27th, the zoo announced it received an ultrasound machine from a donator and has since confirmed the first ultrasound photos of the pregnant white-cheeked gibbon.

On October 25th, the zoo announced it has acquired a (
0.1) snowy owl named Cirrus from Messinger Woods Wildlife Care and Education Centre in Holland, New York. Cirrus is located in the snowy owl exhibit and was brought here for the snowy owls SSP.

On November 4th, the zoo announced they have administered the COVID-19 vaccine to their Sumatran tigers, African lions, snow leopards, jaguar, white-cheeked gibbons, golden lion tamarins, lemurs, straw-colored fruit bats, North American river otters, skunk, red wolves, coyotes, red pandas, Speke’s gazelles, goats, and alpacas.

On December 15th, the zoo announced that their (
0.1) snow leopard named Shanti was humanely euthanized on December 14th due to chronic kidney and heart diseases which resulted in a sharp decline in health. She was ~13.5 years old at the time of passing.
