Tai Lung, the zoo's snow leopard will be moving into off exhibit at the end of the week to allow for exhibit renovation and expansion. The white naped Cranes will move back to the tufted deer exhibit in Legends of the Wild.
Notes from today's visit. Went to try to see Tai Lung the snow leopard one more time before he goes off exhibit at the end of the week but he was a no show all day.
- Green tree pythons were off exhibit in Madagascar.
- The white cheeked gibbon family was extremely active, with Lolani trying to soak up all the attention from the new baby. Was able to see the baby for a few seconds.
- Talked to an employee in Legends of the wild for a few minutes and was given a new hint about the cat coming to the old Jaguar exhibit: It will be smaller than a Jaguar due to the exhibit size.
- I was also told that the Primate/Madagascar house renovation will probably be after the snow leopard/Penguin renovation.
- Jasper was the Komodo dragon on exhibit.
If it is Amur leopard, they are smaller than jaguars.
I didn't get the chance to ask this while at the zoo, but are the alpaca/Andean Condor exhibits included in the upcoming Legend renovation? It seems like we've heard about every part of the land getting an update but it.
Personally id rather see these exhibits be used as space for the possible Amur leopard or new habitats. Theyre the only part of Legends that really felt 20 today.

I am wondering if they would be a holding facility and not a breeding facility. They are a species you tend to have on display one at a time. The back area is not big enough for both that habitat and the snow leopard habitat to have cubs at the same time.
The zoo revealed in a Facebook comment that the Greater Pacific Octopus in Curious Creatures has passed away.
It has also been announced that Lulu the red panda will be moving to live in the animal hospital as her and Sundara were not getting along -
Visit over the next few days to bid our red panda, Lulu, farewell! Lulu will have access to the red panda habitat this week on Wednesday, July 9, Thursday, July 10 and Sunday, July 13.
Lulu will be moving to our animal hospital until the time comes for her to move to her new home at another zoo. Red pandas can be solitary animals, and after a few attempts to introduce new red panda Sundara to Lulu, Lulu has let us know that she was enjoying her time on her own.
Lulu was originally scheduled to depart the Akron Zoo in early 2025, but her move was delayed. This move is based on recommendations from the Red Panda Species Survival Plan (SSP). Red pandas are classified as endangered, and the SSP works to establish a genetically diverse population of red pandas in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) facilities.
Sundara will continue to have access to the red panda habitat daily following Lulu's move.

Notes from today's visit (7/7)
- Tai Lung the snow leopard was outside. Funny I couldn't see him when the zoo said he'd be out, but my first visit after he's supposed to have left there he is.
- There is now a matamata in the rainforest exhibit in Komodo Kingdom.
The frog exhibit between the cafeteria and main exhibits was set back up, but was empty today. - Was told by an employee it could take up to 6 months to determine the sex of the baby gibbon.
- Norman the tufted deer was a no show again, haven’t seen him for a couple of months. White naped cranes are still next to the snow leopard exhibit.

The zoo has announced a new female tufted deer named Lily is now on habitat and has been introduced to the male Norman.
Notes from todays visit (8/4)
- Construction fencing has gone up around the snow leopard and crane exhibit. The cranes have not returned to the legends mixed exhibit with the geese.
- There was a presentation for Jasper the Komodo dragon's 6th birthday. Also got to see him in the water, which I've never seen.
- Emperor geese were no shows in the Jaguar exhibit.
- The standalone exhibit in Komodo Kingdom that used to have frogs has been redecorated but is still empty.
- Temporary barriers have been removed from the red panda and guests can get right up against the glass.

We know officially know that the Madagascar Building will become the Rainforest Building. Sakis, tamarins, birds, tortoises, and a South American rodent species. I think this is to make Legends of the Wild a South American and Asian exhibit area. Especially since Africa is getting bigger. We could someday see lemurs up there in the future to fit in geographically.

More information. The remaining lemurs will be relocated at the zoo.
