Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Animal Adventure

I imagine they'd go in AA; after all, it's the new attraction, and I think they're gonna put an emphasis of exotic species there.
 
For anyone who's interested, Longleat's updated their site of two new pics showing the halfway stages of the Avian Academy and 'Meet the Creatures' area, along with a new site map that gives a very rough outline of the attraction.

Recieved an e-mail from park warden Keith Harris, which had an attached word document about the attraction, which they hope to open mid-July.

LOL, that could be interpreted differentley. :P 'Talk to a real keeper'; course all the ones before we're animatronic.

New series' are generally shown in early January, so you'll have to wait a while.
 
im affraid that there wont be any more series. Animal park has been axed by the bbc after 10 years and the current airing will be the last :(

The article said it wasnt to do with any budget cuts, just that it had been taken as far as it could go. But in my opinion, i think it is a brilliant programme and i have been watching them ever since they started. They should at least bring them out on dvd now! :(

Kate Humble is back though in May with Springwatch with Simon King but NOT Bill Oddie. There is a new presenter taking his place, Chris Packham.

The series were getting repetitive. Maybe they should have looked at bringing another park/zoo into the program.
 
That's a real shame Animal Park is ending. As basically a TV diary, I'm not sure why there'd be any need to 'take it further' ...... this sort of programme is hardly static, because, like any zoo, there is always new things to report: births, deaths, changes in behaviour, changes in season, new developments and so on.

I agree it could be described as repetitive in as much that the same animals are featured semi-regularly, but there's also positives in that as the viewer imagines they get to know an animal and watches as it matures.

I'd always be up for watching a similar format featuring another zoo or park, but they wouldn't have the completely batty but very amusing Lord Bath as an extra attraction !

( .... and going back to the drive round once thing. I really don't think this is cynical, but practical - with such a popular destination, the enclosures might get totally blocked if you could go round as many times as you wanted).

True, however there is no warning about this and I feel that I would of stayed longer in certain areas than I did, if I knew once I got out that was it.
 
Any more news on the species for animal adventure? I was there last week and it was unfortunately closed but there was a picture of an anteaters head on the sign!!:)
 
I'm going on Sunday. Will give you a full list of species there. Atm, I know of Porcupines, and the Butterfly Garden. The Leaf Cutter Ant colony has also moved here, in an open top enclosure.
 
Hmm, I've noticed that the Pets Corner page on the official site has been taken down, along with the VIP Pets Corner tours and all other mentions of the place...
 
Didn't see that one coming. If Pets Corner is being replaced by Animal Adventure, then this is a real shame. Animal Adventure is a lot smaller than Pets Corner and with less room for enclosures. Maybe the Pets Corner site is to be turned into something else, then. I hope so.
 
I was wondering what would happen to Pets Corner, it seems odd to have two animal attractions but still, Pets Corner was a lovely little place. Wouldn't it be easier for longleat just to use a bigger plot of land and combine the attractions?
 
You couldn't really merge them as they are seperated by the station for the Longleat Railway, unless they relocated the platform to the Safari Boat quay which I doubt they'd do due to the effort.

Could it be that Pets Corner will become a more 'hands-off' area themed for exotics with AA dealing with the animal encounters, parrot show, etc? I'll send an e-mail and ask.
