I am curious about which obvious animals are completely absent from all British Zoos. The most obvious I can think of is Ibex but also Moose and several African Savannah antelopes.

Quite a few antelope species are missing from the UK - Impala (surprising, as several European zoos hold them)
Longleat have some Dromedary Camels... at least, they did when I was last there. Can't think of any other places I've visited that has them though...Are there an dromedary camels? I can only ever recall seeing Bactrian on UK zoo programmes.
AFAIK (which isn't much!) we're missing some subspecies of some animals, such as tigers (I believe there are no Malayan or Indo-Chinese in the UK).
There's a lack of dolphins, manatees, dugongs, belugas etc (but I believe all four tend to be fairly uncommon (except possibly for dolphins?) in captivity everywhere). Walrus too, I think.
Tasmanian Devils are another animal we've not got, although like the above, they're uncommon outside of Australia.
Kiwi, perhaps?
I can't think of any others, but I don't get out to zoos much, so I wouldn't know more than what's been posted here on ZooChat![]()
about the marine animals, there are none in the uk, and there are only dugons in the sydny aquarium, but some are on the cards
i believe there are dugongs in a couple of other aquariums other than sydney - pretty sure there are some in jakarta.
oddly, from what i know, seaworld australia (which owns the aquarium and was the the dugongs former home) have never tried to breed the young pair.

Manatees!! I would love to see some in a UK zoo! The NWCP is supposed to be getting them in 2015, however all mention of them has been taken off their microsite recently.... not a good sign!!
